Forget that. Look at Andre - a card carrying Raiders fan - wearing a Dorsett T-shirt.
  3. Play more open mic nights Start boxing again Try to land some freelance writing gigs Drink less
  4. Have a great day Todd. See you in January.
  5. Thanks for all the advice. I was hoping Pablo would see this post. I will save up for a good looper then... or "borrow" one from that hack nero guitarist between sets in January.
  6. I have a budget, but I won't nickel and dime. However, doesn't the RC-20XL run somewhere in the $400+ range? I'm never going to be in a band - unless Blue Grassy High invite me to do some guest guitar work. I want a loop pedal for fun and to add some variation while doing some solo acoustic instrumental performances at open mic nights.
  7. Thanks Brad. I don't know anything about loops other than I know a pedal would come in handy since I won't sing at an open mic. I do write and perform a few instrumentals, but I'd like to mix it up and add some more tracks ala loops.
  8. The money that the Giants paid Barry Zito today is insane, especially since Zito's best days are behind him. Randy has even a worse upside than Zito, even though he'd come at a considerably lower price.
  9. I want to get a loop pedal for open mic nights - nothing too fancy, but I want it to be easy to use and versatile. I'll be playing alone so the loop pedal should help out. Has anyone used the simplest Boss pedal?: http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/RC-2/index.html How about the next model?: http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/RC-20XL/index.html
  10. Right you are! Nice move for Grunwald since the Pistons took Darko one pick before Bosh.
  11. He is looking like a great GM, but you gotta give that poor bastard Rob Babcock a bit of credit. He did sign Calderon and draft Bosh and Joey Graham. He also drafted Charlie V which allowed the Raps to trade for the excellent Ford. However, Babcock was generally a bad GM and should never have been hired to run the team in the first place. But, without hiring and then firing Babcock, I doubt Coliangelo would be here. At least he wouldn't have been hired at the time of the Babcock hiring.
  12. Although in terms of remaking All The Kings Men, the question why? must come to mind. The original is a masterpiece. How can anyone improve upon a masterpiece. At least The Magnificent Seven went to the wild west with great success.
  13. I like Dark Horizon's website. It's more straightforward and honest than the overly popular fanboy site Ain't It Cool. Here's Dark Horizons' Worst Films of 2006: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news06/bottom2006.php
  14. I bought it for my wife for Christmas. I also got her O by Damien Rice. I liked that album, although it's even more mellow than anything by Iron & Wine.
  15. I had a pretty lean Christmas music-wise. However my wife got me this:
  16. I'm still sorting out the things I didn't like about The Crane Wife. I'd never listened to the band until Christmas and Boxing Day. One thing is that the lead singer/writer's lyrics and voice bugged the hell out of me. I found the "prog" dirges annoying and pretentious - the progressive passages reminded me of early Genesis and since I think Genesis is one of the worst bands to haunt the airwaves, hearing this while driving back to Toronto almost made me want to run my car into a tree.
  17. The Jays lit up Randy last year. Imagine the Yanks or Red Sox facing Randy if he pitched for the Jays. They'd light him up like a burning school house.
  18. I listened to The Crane Wife twice over the past two days... I don't like it for a number of reasons.
  19. Canucks are in tough, but have some great talent. I can't wait for the drop of the puck and the phantom calls.
  20. I think no. He's lost velocity on his fastball and he's waaay too expensive for a diminishing payoff.
  21. Kurosawa is truly one of the greatest directors of all time. I don't think Seven Samurai is his best film either, but it may be his most entertaining (and influential) - along with The Hidden Fortress.
  22. I must see this film. I loved Del Toro's ghost story masterpiece The Devil's Backbone and Pan's is meant as an indirect sequel.
  23. Terrible news. James sure didn't look after himself to say the least but he still had a good run. RIP Mr. Godfather of Soul.
  24. Here's a rare Roy Buchanan video with Roy trying out a custon Roy Buchanan Telecaster. Wait for the band jam a few minutes in and stay with it. Roy's solos gets more and more over-the-top and outrageous: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F9B4H6PnOA
