Anyone have tips on Ottawa Hotels near Bluesfest... or not too far from there? Looking for something in the 3* or better range. Ie. no dumps, but the lower the price the better.... also likely looking at suites if possible... Woohoo!!

I too don't believe it was salary. The salary part of the equation was someting like a 2% raise which over the timeframe of the agreement (past or future) wasn't even cost of living. It had more to do with safety and injury pay. I think they want 100% pay when hurt on the job as opposed to 80%. For what its worth, I think that TTC workers make less than Mississauga and Brampton etc. and also receive less benefits. They may be paid decent - but for the number of lives that rest on their shoulders they should be. Its also getting more dangerous for them. Its not an easy job if you ask me.

Just outside of Waterford there is a used book shop that donates all the profits to third world countries in need of books/computers/school supplies. Bernie is the guys name. I think he was the librarian at Port Dover Composite School once upon a time...

Jimmy's Place is a few doors down and has $10 pitchers or $20 for a pitcher and 2 lbs wings. Its seedy - but in a good way...

Ya- I figured it was a bad idea - so I tried anyway.. took me 45+ minutes from Leslieville to Gardener and Spadina... turned around and called it a night.

I only saw them once - and while I'm not super into teh studio stuff, it was an amazing show. The people that were there were all really really into it I thought. And while many of them were young woman (and I was single), they weren't of the screaming and fainting variety. They were into the show. I'd go again if it wasn't a fortune...

Casinos are great places to party! I'd love to hit this one - that album sounds good so far....

For hotels Travelzoo sometimes has good deals along the lines of $125/night with a $50 food voucher for some restaurant and some other throw ins... Also, I've stayed at the Oakes Hotel on the rack rate and its right by the casino, great view, and not a chain so the prices are a little better....

Ola - Anyone from up there able to answer a couple questions??? I've never been to Collingwood. 1. since its a ski town does that mean the bars are always full? 2. whats my best bet for accomodations? ideally it'd be a chalet with a hot tub, but finding them for 1 night doesn't seem easy... there's likely to be at least 5 of us... thanks for the help.

do a google search for Rogers and redflagdeals. THey always have a gig that'll tell you the top plans with Rogers. I like them myself. They're all expensive in Canada (although bandwidth is about to be sold off and then there should be a lot more competition). With Rogers you can get incoming free plans, and you can get Rogers to Rogers plans that are free to/from any Rogers wireless OR home phon - and a lot more people are Rogers home phoning now a days I think (at least I am). I also pay $5 for 1000cdn LD minutes which helps. g'luck
