  1. yeah brad; they are the site that got me hooked on this stuff. they have recently come out wiht some pretty sweet kits, a reallllly nice analog sounding digital delay. the repeats slowly distort just like an old bucket brigade analog delay i really like their motto Take Tone into your own hands it makes sense, rather than buying 200+ $ boutique pedals, why not build them yourself? and customize it to your own needs? the guys who came up with the BYOC idea are brilliant. im going to work on a tubescreamer soon, with all sorts of mods, might have to put a rotary switch in it to accomodate them all, im thinking a stock TS808 ala SRV, a modded TS9 ala trey, a turbo mode ala the newer TS9DX, a sweet warm bassboost because those stock tubescreamers are lacking in the low end dept, some symmetrical distortion options as well as some nice thick asymmetrical clipping with MOSFets. im pumped
  2. wouldnt the hot nuggets warm up your cold pop? this is such a weird thing, but i see its uses, you still have one hand free for your hotdog stuffed pizza
  3. finally. link to front photo link to photo of back I just finished clearcoating it and re-installing the guts. Its for a buddy of mine, a present for his younger brother, hence the name he wanted for it, Junior. I got my wifey to do the Jr. in the bottom corner, i didnt trust my own hand after all this coffee this morning. selling it this aft for 100. simple DIY envelope filter kit, built from scratch, except for the board itself, with a few mods, and a pretty killer paintjob, if i do say so myself. i just learned how to do these cool-ass swirly paintjobs, they are as much fun to do as this pedal is to play. i really dig the back plate, how the yellow kinda looks like a meteor, maybe its harder to see thru the computer, but this shit looks sweet eh?

  12. speaking of handmade gifts, im building a buddy a guitar pedal, loaded, custum to what he wants. not quite as practical as a nice knit scarf (or as warm as) but still hand made it actually feels like christmas more this year, im guessing since its colder, and snowier like christmases used to be
  13. we have brand new shoe shoes, well, 2 years old but they might as well be brand new, used 4 times due to lack of snow. BRING IT!!!!! i heard the weather channel guy say: "basically, its going to snow, then rain, melt it all up a bit, then freezing rain or snow on top to freeze it into a big mess" perrrrfect

  16. i think ill buy the parts for the phaser/univibe for the guy. DEM: cheeers to loving a good sustainer, i bought one a while back, love it, but am thinking of building this nice 5knob one i found plans for, kind of the best of all compression worlds, its circut has the best of the Orange Squeezer, the dynacomp and the Ross. jaimoe: i was thinking a TS or some other dist/fuzz/OD pedal would be good, shit, thats almost everyones starter pedal, but the guys adamant that he dont want one, as his amp has a dist. channel already lol. sooner or later he will learn im sure. thanks to all for the input have a good weekend
  17. yeah im thinking of a fully loaded phaser too, his amp already has reverb and a dist. channel. last night i found some plans for a "fully loaded" phaser, based on the old MXR phase 90, but with so many mods, a toggle switch to change the phase from 2stage to 4stage( 90-45), 2 more knobs(feedbck + resonance), and a toggle switch to change the voicing of the phase to be more throaty and liquidy to simulate a univibe. thanks bradm
  18. So now that ive gotten the handle of building up my own pedals, a buddy that i work with wants me to build his brother one for Xmas. he doesnt play himself, so he doesnt really know what his bro wants. He asked me, "what kind of pedal would you suggest for a starting out player thats not really good? you know, something that sounds good, and might even make him sound better when he is just farting around. what did you want as a first pedal when you were starting out?" my first thoughts were a fuzz pedal, as they are easy+cheap to build, but the guy doesnt want that. now my Q to y'all is the same Q he asked me: for a beginner, what would you suggest? thanks
  19. almost forgot, this is one think i am NOT thankful for, my friggin neighbour pissing on my house all drunk. im also unthankful (like booche) that i didnt knock the kid back into kindergarden, fuckin little goof
  20. we spent thanksgiving up at the inlaws cottage, beautiful to be going waterskiing in oct. let me tell you. im thankful for my wifey most of all, and all my friends, family, still being alive and well-bodied enough to go to work, very thankful for the blessed herb that mother nature provides for us. thankful for food to eat and beer to drink. Very thankful for all the good music out there and the musicians that play it for us all, and to the kind folks that run this board. thanks and happy Hanksgivin!!
  21. i got a seagull 12strng from my wife as a wedding present exactly 1 year ago to the day. it plays great, has a cedar top, and i totally agree with daves comment about chewing thru it in a few years, i can totally see it hapopening to this guitar.
  22. how about converting your car to run on water? Hers How To Do It maybe your mechanic could do that for you, its easy enough, my uncle in law has converted his big old suburban to run on water. save alot of money at the pumps, thats for sure. and you can recycle the water, so you arent really using that much water at all, a few litres a week if you set up a good re-capturing system. these points from this page here
  23. agreed bradm, naps are awesome my wife has gotten me addicted to naps on the weekend, especially if we are going out for a long evening, a couple hours in bed in the afternoon-early supper hours are great.
