  1. Fiona and I are seriously contemplating getting a karaoke machine ... yes, everyone, point and laugh, get it out of your system ... and were wondering if anyone had advice as to the best system, prices, method of getting karaoke stuff, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. #338 Songs by Canadian jambands that are currently broken up (playing once a year doesn't count...) 1. j'moor - The New Shady Groove 2. Dynamite - Blue Quarter 3. Fists of Funk - P.F. Station 4. Something With Feeling - Freeway Band 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12.
  3. Maybe it (Like 05/08) just isn't in the vault.
  4. I've been waiting for ages for another Fallout From The Phil Zone type release (granted , So Many Roads and to a lesser extend Golden Road and Beyond Description helped fill this bill.) Having plenty of complete shows, I like getting the highlights package.

  6. I just got mine ... anyone else get theirs yet?
  7. Absolutely nothing to back this up, just casting my own personal wishlist net as wide as possible : Lou Reed Silversun Pickups Isaac Hayes Leonard Cohen Levon Helm Twilight Singers David Byrne Roxy Music King Crimson Heart (so I can finally get Fiona out to it again ) Alice In Chains (won't be the same without Layne, but still ...) John Fogerty
  8. ISTR Hiway Freeker covering a Dylan's "Thief On The Cross" (I think that's the title; IIRC' date=' they claimed it had only been performed once by Dylan) one night at Dekcuf. (I wonder if I still have the recording...) Aloha, Brad[/quote'] From what I've read, Thief On The Cross was only performed once in New Orleans during his Christian phase ... but strangely, I think I also have a recording of it from Toronto. I sure hope you have the recording of HF doing it.
  9. Spoken like pretty much anyone who has seen her live ... she's not your stereotypical hottie, but she just oozes sensuality.
  10. Oh my golly, I didn't know, sorry this is late ... hope you had an awesome birthday/Valtentines Day, Christine, looking forward to seeing you at the party.
  11. And I'll do the two things I do best : not leave well enough alone, and make things worse. Here goes ... Are you going to let him say that about you? What kind of man are you?
  12. The only person I've ever encountered who could make Ballad Of A Thin Man sound incredibly sexy.
  13. I call crossing the Queensway naked as punishment for these doofs. Frick Big virtua hugs to both of you, Sharon and Mike, if you can make it to our Winter Of Discontent party in 2 weeks I will readily give them to you in person. And supersize hugs from both Fiona and me to your poor puppy dog.
  14. I still don't figure the best "new" artist category ... I first thought it odd that Feist lost to Amy Winehouse, who was already on her second album, then remembered it was at least Feist's second album as well. (Love Amy Winehouse, haven't heard enough Feist to make up my mind yet.)
  15. Ebert had a great line, something to the effect that this might be the first time people went *into* the movie singing the soundtrack
  16. I loved it ... and nobody I know thinks I have good taste, so there you go.
  17. Who looked the most surprised at hearing their name announced as a winner, Amy Winehouse or Herbie Hancock? Amy didn't look like she believed it at first (no obvious jokes, please).
  18. I don't think a time ever existed. Call my naive' date=' but I think in some way the Beatles changed the world. Anyhow, there was at least a time when some people could reasonably [b']think music would change the world.
  19. This is twice this weekend that I've seen Janis Joplin's name misspelled (I think the first time was in a Grace Slick autobio, which is odd considering they were friends.) He also botched Jimi Hendrix' name. Is this guy sure he is an entertainment journalist?
  20. Shock me ... make me feel better. Shock me ... put on your black leather. (I confess I only know this song through the Red House Painters version.)
  21. He had my favorite line in the movie. Orson Welles : This movie is all I've got! (pause) Roy Scheider's character : And whose fault is that?
  22. Countdown to "12 Songs From Bands Only I Have Heard Of" ...
  23. Yes, yes it will ... the only album with my name in the credits (apart from indy recordings from my old bands) isn't due out until the fall
