The only album that grabbed me enough this year to recommend it is Boys and Girls in America by The Hold Steady.

Thing with the cover is I'd totally gloss over your album if I was looking at a rack of new releases. This might be too much of a personal quirk but I just like longer album, and song, titles. "Turn" doesn't say much to me. Turn what? Same with the song titles, when I look at the back cover there's nothing there that grab's my attention and makes me think, "I want to hear what that sounds like." Is it a legit complaint to wish the song titles were more interesting? Lyrically I think you guys are solid but nothing has really caught my attention enough to make me go check out the lyrics in the liner notes. They lyrics don't bring down the album though, and that's a good thing. Don't get the wrong impression, I'm in critical mode here. Overall I think the album is a success.

Watching the news on Sunday I was struck by how much Dion reminded me of Mr. Bean, with his awe-struck expression and walking around without seeming to know where he was going.

I wish there were more songs with lyrics. I wish I liked the artwork and album title. Not eye-catching and not reflective of what's inside the package. Don't be afraid to grab people's attention.

Didn't catch all of the speeches but caught parts of Kennedy, Rae and Ignatieff. Kennedy was solid and it will be good to have someone of his poise in federal politics. Rae was awful. He'll never shake that he was the premier of Ontario as an NDP. It will be a failure of colossal proportions if he wins. I agree that Iggy is probably the best bet to go up against Harper at this point and I too would relish the level of debate. I also agree that if he sticks to his strengths he should do fine. What time does voting get underway today?

It's looking pretty bad up here on the 11th floor. Freezing rain has been pelting our windows for hours. But I think half of Ottawa called in sick today in anticipation so rush hour might be ok.
