 If I were to be stranded somewhere, and could have only one HST book with me, that'd be the one. Aloha, Brad
  2. http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/248216/ I saw Brothers Chaffey at Irene's on Aug. 8, and they put on a great show: really danceable rockabilly/country, with some really cool lead guitar playing. I also saw The Withering Pines open for The John Henrys back in March, and they did a really good job, with hints of Ryan Adams in their playing and songs. Is anybody else going to be out for this? Aloha, Brad

Richler also adapted the novel into a film. Aloha, Brad

    Barrymore's Sold?

Their August calendar has been updated to note that the Aug. 22 and Aug. 23 events have been cancelled, but the Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 (and later months') events look like they're still happening. Aloha, Brad
  9. The only thing currently in the Ottawa calendar for next week is Mike Sasso @ Urban Well, which could be a fun night. (I think it'll be solo singer/songwriter stuff, with both originals and covers; Urban Well is a nice little pub, and Mike's a good singer, songwriter, and guitar player.) Aloha, Brad
  10. I actually understood your question both in the general and specific sense, and went for the easy-to-find answer. As to the hard-to-find answer, in http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/245644 I found Aloha, Brad
  11. Brining involves letting the (raw) meat soak in a salt water solution (often with sugar and spices also added to it) for a few hours before cooking. http://www.wikihow.com/Brine-Meat Aloha, Braed
  12. Tix for the Toronto show can be ordered now (US$32 each, including service charge), but it looks like the only delivery option is will-call. Aloha, Brad

  14. Live TK is available at: http://www.archive.org/details/ToubabKrewe I saw them at moe.down in (IIRC) 2006 in the beer tent, and they floored me. Aloha, Brad
  15. In. And with this show being on a Tuesday, I might come down the day before and see Sisters Euclid at The Orbit Room (assuming they're playing). Aloha, Brad
  16. Hmmm...Brothers Chaffey and The Withering Pines are playing that night, too, and if the play ends at 8:30pm, it shouldn't be hard to do both. Aloha, Brad
  17. Stop listening to jam-bands. Aloha, Brad
  18. Happy Day, Davey! Aloha, Brad
  19. Does anyone remember the Ottawa band The Groovebug? I think they packed it in before I really got into the Ottawa music scene, but I may have seen one or two of the bands that came out of it (was Seismic one of them?). It turns out they're doing a one-off reunion gig at Barrymore's: http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/248543/ with Aloha, Brad

  22. I'm wondering what funny way(s) Stoned Phillips' parents used to help the 11-or-12-year-old SP remember what a whore is... Aloha, Brad
