  6. Maybe, but if they had had better beer (maybe a different brewery, or at least a better selection of the beers they had), I would have bought more. (I pretty much gave up on Saranac after Friday night.) Aloha, Brad
  7. One of the guys I was with was walking near some of those guys (a special security detail, dressed in black, pretty much head to toe), and made some comment about "the ninjas." One of them turned around and said, very sternly and with a huge amount of resentment, "We're not fucking ninjas." Aloha, Brad
  8. It looks like McCain wasn't exactly filled with wonder: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/02/us/politics/02vetting.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&hp Aloha, Brad
  9. Since you created the topic, you can change it pretty easily: in the block of buttons in the bottom-right corner of the first post in the topic, there's one labelled "Edit." Click on it, and you should be taken back to what looks like what you used to enter the original post. Make the changes you want (i.e., edit the subject), then press the "Submit Change" button. (I usually press the "Preview" button before submitting, just to make sure the changes were entered properly.) I was hoping it wasn't a typo, and that I'd able to watch the show over the intertoobz. 14. ...there's a band from Vancouver you might want to check out: The Pack A.D. (on MySpace here). Like the Stripes, it's a duo, just guitar, drums, and vocals, with a raw, blues-y-rock feel to it. (Their press clippings read pretty well.) I'm planning on being at (and recording) their Ottawa show; they're also doing some dates in Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes in the first half of September. Has anybody seen their live show? Aloha, Brad

  16. And you're saying you want to be rested, awake, and alert, with memories of a do-nothing weekend while you stand in line? That's a perfect opportunity to stand there tired, half-asleep, with flashbacks memories of a fun weekend of music running through your head. Aloha, Brad
  17. I just checked the jambase listings for Montreal, and they list Akron/Family as playing at La Salla Rossa on Friday, Oct. 3: http://www.jambase.com/shows/event.aspx?EventID=800296 It doesn't look it's part of a tour, it seems to more of a one-off gig that's part of the Pop Montreal festival: http://www.popmontreal.com/ http://www.popmontreal.com/en/node/3189 Also on that bill are Herman Dune and Great Lake Swimmers; I don't know Herman Dune, but GLS is pretty cool (though not rocky, more indie folk). Aloha, Brad
  18. And the "puree in a blender or food processor until near-liquid consistency" step. Aloha, Brad
  19. The first day back is usually pretty light-weight, though, without much actual learning to it. Besides, even if you are supposed to learn something, the earlier you get behind, the more time you have to catch up. Aloha, Brad
