  1. I'd like to see their response to, say, Israel hosting a conference to debate the historical evidence for Muhammad and the events detailed in the Qur'an. Aloha, Brad
  2. Attention Hamilton folks: if you like good singer/songwriter music, and great female singing/harmonies, be at Pepper Jack Cafe on Tuesday, Dec. 12, to see Ladybird Sideshow (which includes Janine Stoll; a couple of live recordings of her trio are available here). Ben Somer is the opening act, and I've never heard of him, but Ladybird is an act I've been wanting to see for a while; if I were in Hamilton tomorrow night, I'd be there. Aloha, Brad
  3. Is that too obvious to be a band name? Aloha, Brad
  4. The fact that you'd even consider not being at Mavericks this NYE disappoints me greatly. That you've come to your/our senses reappoints me somewhatly. Aloha, Brad
  5. Or very small bottles of glue... Aloha, Brad
  6. It worked for me. I clicked on the Ottawa link, and a bunch of trip deals came up. When I clicked on the price of the first trip listed, I got a list of Ottawa > Cozumel trips, and got the first page where I fill in my information (beyond which I didn't go). Aloha, Brad
  7. There are? I need to change the bus route I take to the office... Aloha, Brad
  8. Actually, he's asking/telling us (or his set of listeners) to imagine there's no heaven. I don't think there's any indication of what he actually believes anywhere in the song (although "Imagine there's no heaven / It's easy if you try" would seem to imply he had tried imagining it). Aloha, Brad

I'm putting that (in mixed-case, and with a few fewer "!"s) in my song titles file. Aloha, Brad
  10. The Internet makes it possible to amplify, not steal, information. Aloha, Brad
  11. That man has the fastest, most assured right hand I've ever seen. That's the first time I've ever had to write that. Aloha, Brad, Who Just Experienced His First "Fvck, I Wish I Had Taped That" Night of 2006
  12. It's really cool to see Moses Mayes on the bill again. Aloha, Brad
  13. Second most recent. But yeah. They're good. Second most recent and most recent: they played in 2005 and 2006. I know this because I have yet to give a copy of RGD 2006-07-01 to the band. (I actually have a file that lists the recordings I still have to get to bands.) Aloha, Brad
  14. Apparently at The Fillmore in Denver, CO, when Yonder Mountain String Band plays there, a single stand is allowed inside the cage around the soundboard; bring a clamp and enough cables, and your microphones can be a part of... The Deathstar... Aloha, Brad
  15. I know I used to have problems viewing some particular users' posts, and tracked it down to their avatars taking a long time to load. Turning the viewing of avatars off solved the problem. Aloha, Brad
  16. Mmmmm...employee discount... Aloha, Brad
  17. Suburban areas, too, apparently...at least the ones where cheese gets served as a snack to neighbours' kids... Aloha, Brad
  18. On Friday, December 8, 2006, Ottawa's Real Gone Daddies will be having the CD release party for their new record, "extinct", at Mavericks in Ottawa. The night will start off with a short animated film, "Das Rad", then a set by The Hungry Freaks, playing the music of Frank Zappa / Mothers Of Invention, then two full sets of Real Gone Daddies. The cover charge is $8 at the door ($6 in advance; see RGD's website for where tix are available). Real Gone Daddies are one of my favourite Ottawa bands; I've been listening to them for a couple of years now, and they consistently blow me away. I've been waiting for their record for a while now, and, from the snippets I've heard, it'll be worth the wait. Aloha, Brad
  19. Please tell me he was wearing at least a bathing suit in your vision, and that the "it" around which the red ribbon is tied refers to the fondue pot, and not some other "it"... Aloha, Brad
  20. Three months = about 60 working days; you could take every Tuesday in 2007 off, stay out late every Monday watching Sisters Euclid at The Orbit Room, and still have a few days left over. Heck, it's unlikely SE will play 52 Mondays in 2007, so you'd have more than a few days extra. Aloha, Brad
  21. I'm not sure if it qualifies as "Centretown", but I recall there being one on the South side of Rideau, just East of Dalhousie; I think Stapes talked of going there once. Aloha, Brad
  22. I don't have any definitive word, but this needs a bump anyway, so here's some confusing info: Swizzles recently had a fire, so is currently undergoing repairs, which may or may not be done by Dec. 17. The Dusty Owl webpage says David Lauzon's MySpace page, however, lists the gig as being at Saw Gallery. So I know it's happening on Sunday, Dec. 17, but am not sure at which of the (at least) three possible places it's going to be. Aloha, Brad
