  1. Perhaps you could cover it in something to make it stickier... Aloha, Brad
  2. Change of plans: I think I'll be heading for the Canal Royal Oak for Velvet's birthday. Aloha, Brad
  3. You can go get this show at http://www.archive.org/details/um2006-12-02.akg481.flac Aloha, Brad
  4. Happy Day, V! (If people are looking for a gathering place/event tonight, this might be good.) Aloha, Brad

    V Fest debacle

Atomic number 74, presumably. Aloha, Brad
  6. If anybody in Ottawa is looking for some New Year's warm up action, Marc Charron (of Lure) is doing a solo show tonight at Patty Boland's in the Byward Market. I saw an earlier show he did there, and it was a lot of fun. It's all covers, but he does his own fun take on them. I think it's also a free show, with his playing intended to be background music for the people in the pub. Marc's MySpace page lists the start time as 8:00pm. Aloha, Brad
  7. Congratulations! (I didn't even know they were expecting.) Aloha, Brad
  8. The Wednesday, December 27, 2006 show by James McKenty And The Spades at The Cameron House in Toronto, ON is now available for download: http://www.archive.org/details/jmats2006-12-27.bmc3.shnf Enjoy! Aloha, Brad
  9. RC-2 reviews RC-20XL reviews Aloha, Brad
  10. I don't know much about them, but Looper's Delight has a lot of info. Aloha, Brad
  11. The show to which zero is referring is available for download at http://www.archive.org/details/apollosun2006-03-02.oktava-jb3.shnf Edit to add: I'm really glad you liked it, zero. Aloha, Brad

    Cool gifts

Wouldn't one big sweater that the both of you could get into at the same time have been even better? Aloha, Brad
  13. Here's what went down: Set I ------ Ultrasound #2 Apple Of My Eye Joints And Cigarettes Mafia Sting Silver Ships Gorilla Thought The Next Round The Rising Sons > Preservatives > I'm Bored[1] > Preservatives Set II ------- The Protester The Snub Harbour Falcons On My Mind Sound Off Subterranean Homesick Blues[2] In The Movies Restless Soul Powerlines Vampire Blues[3] Please Stand By > 49 Tons Of Diesel Locomotive[4] Encore -------- Eleanor Rigby[5] [1] Iggy Pop cover. [2] Bob Dylan cover. [3] Neil Young cover. [4] Fred Eaglesmith cover. [5] The Beatles cover. I don't know if James is using more reverb or not; maybe he's just letting it "ring" out more? I know that when he starts "The Protester", he can his the opening notes pretty hard, and he leaves enough space in his playing to let you really feel them. Aloha, Brad
  14. I can't remember (in specific) what I received as gifts, but I did pick up "Sunday Best" by Sisters Euclid at Sam The Record Man on Boxing Day. (And for those who want their "Run Neil Run" disc, which I don't think is available at SE shows, Sam The Record Man had it in stock.) Aloha, Brad
  15. I saw them in Ottawa back in the summer (IIRC), and liked a lot of their show, except for the chain of one-minute snippets of rap classics they played, which struck me as a bit cheezy. I was hoping for more solid original grooves/songs from them (they played original material, just not enough of it for me). Aloha, Brad
  16. If you mean the 2003-02-07 nero, you're right, and people should get it for no reason other than it having the rarely-played "Sunspine". I think two of the GTB shows also include a rarity, "Pillowcaseinpointofnoreturntosender" (which I'm not sure I've ever seen). I'm actually looking forward to getting back to the office in the New Year, to start downloading and listening to all these. Aloha, Brad
  17. Over on another message board, Aloha, Brad
  18. Don Ross is also at Hugh's Room tonight. I'll still be at The Spades, though. (That's not intended to be disrespectful of Shepherd's music, which sounds like it could be a lot of fun; it's just that I haven't seen The Spades for a while, and it fits my plans/schedule better.) Aloha, Brad
  19. I'd really appreciate it if you could send/post that, Jaydawg. Aloha, Brad
  20. You might consider getting an external sound processor, maybe an M-Audio or Edirol box, which will feed (digitized) audio to the laptop over Firewire or USB. A further advantage is that an external unit can also come with XLR inputs. Aloha, Brad
  21. The one I (and a lot of other tapers use) is CD Wave. (And if you want to use Audition, Audacity can do a lot of what Audition can do, but is free/open-source.) Aloha, Brad

    Cool gifts

Sweet! Are those nylon strings on it? How is it tuned? How does it sound through a looper? (I didn't get anything nearly that neat.) Aloha, Brad
  23. Please tell me those four are all playing simultaneously... Aloha, Brad
