  1. I'm actually in Ottawa this weekend. Where is this mystical restaurant you speak of?

    Pho?

Pho NV, 52 Cannon Street West, Hamilton, ON (905) 912-1777, is my favourite non Ottawa Pho. Pho Pasteur is my fav in T.O. If I'm really hung over the only food I crave is Pho. Especially after an all nighter when nothing else is appealing.

    Pho?

That's too bad! It was not the nicest place, but the pho rocked. I usually got the satay, but their normal broth was so tasty.
  4. All the dudes on PT have been sharing files using privnote.com It shares the files only once. Then the receiver may pass it on. Great way to pass on shows without getting busted by the PT police.
  5. Has anyone ever tried fried chicken and waffles? I haven't YET, but I keep hearing it is one of those unexpectedly amazing food combos. If I ever find myself in the south, I will most certainly be searching this out.

    Pho?

Ottawa does the Pho real good! My fav (back in the day) was this small little place that was across from the asian grocery store just over the bridge on Wellington (?- tough to remember as that street changes names about 4 times). It is in Mechanicsville. They had a rare beef satay that I used to add big shrimp to. I still miss that place. I wonder if it is still around?
  7. Sweet gift! Ms Hux is going to have a tough time topping that one, but something tells me she will try! Congrats on top of the b-day wishes. That's pretty cool. Let's celebrate with champagne and caviar... say at the end of the month...in Venice? What do ya say?
  8. Happy Birthday bouche! Thanks for all you do to keep this place alive and kickin'! This little community you built still serves us well. It might not be what it used to be but I know I still love connecting with all the friends I've made over the years of seeing music and talking about it on here. It's a great respite from the other internet communities where arguing is the sport of choice. Have a great day and I'll be sure to raise a glass in your honour.
  9. Looks pretty good. This might actually get me to go to Hamilton.
  10. OK then, I'm not that grey. Ha! I also put on a solid 40 or 50lbs since then.

    BEER!!

I tried a cask of chipotle beer a few years ago at a craft beer fest. Kinda gimicky. It had a bit of a smokey flavour with a hit of heat at the end. I wouldn't spend money on it, but some folks like unique flavours.

    Local Corn

I love August for corn and tomatoes! I could eat a BLT every day when tomatoes are in season. Hmmmmmm...and caprese salad.
  13. Loved them at Hillside! Rockin' show inside the beer tent. It was hot as hell and everyone was up and grooving!
  14. I'm not that upset over the lack of toilets in the beer tent. I ended up leaving after Sheepdogs to see Karl D on the main stage, but if I had stuck around for Hollerado my choices would have been a burst bladder or missing half the set waiting in line to get back in after visiting the loo. If that is my only complaint about a festival then kudos to the organizers on a well run weekend!
  15. Yeah- that can be an issue. Especially on Saturday night in the beer tents. There tends to be a couple good beer tent shows in a row so we usually head in early, before the crowd arrives and get a spot to hang for a while. The bigger issue is that the portapotties are outside the beer tent so if you have to use them, you are forced to line up again. That can be rough after a long day of drinking in the sun. We asked some of the organizers about that. They said the liquor control board liked it because it kept people moving. I guess they have had some headaches with the board in the past and since they moved the portapotties to outside the beer tent area the liquor board has backed off, so they don't plan on switching it up anytime soon. However, with the new, relaxed festival rules (which could have been adopted this year, but weren't) there is hope for an improved situation upcoming years.
  16. That was another fantastic weekend! Lots of good music, great friends and some damn hot weather! Great to see so many friendly faces! Today has been epically non-productive.
  17. I like my food well done.
  18. · Open fire restrictions The following conservation areas are under an Open Fire Restriction due to the extremely dry conditions: · Conestogo Lake · Guelph Lake · Rockwood · Elora Gorge · Brant · Laurel Creek · Byng Island* Cooking fires are permitted on campsites from noon to midnight only. After midnight, all fires must be completely extinguished. Not sure what they mean by cooking fires- but I'm hoping they mean raging bonfire with lots of guitars.
  19. Bummer about the no campfire rule. I love drinking by the fire after a fine day of music. Oh well, I guess we will be drinking around the lantern.
  20. Today is the day! Happy Hillside!
