MoMack
So folks... whats the word on this Krewe of Roo thing. Anyone remember what the difference in price was for earlybird tix? And how many you reckon we can order (to split up the Krewe costs). And most importantly do you think those faulkers will let us know who's playing before the Jan 27th early bird date? I mean, spending big dough for questions marks is kind of sh!t no?
TimmyB
I don't think the line up for bonnaroo will be up before 1/27. But since I've been to all three so far, I really can't see myself missing this one. How bad could the line up be?

TimmyB
How bad could the line up be? Rush > Max Webster Seemless Sets to Open. That would be great! Umphrey's McGee performed Rush's "YYZ" at the first bonnaroo and Primus performed the same song at the most recent, so I'm sure a lot of other people and musicians would love Rush at bonnaroo too. \/\/illy
Hey MoMack! We're thinking about going down in style this year (air-conditioned motor-home). Any interest?
AD
Hey Willy, Unless you have a private contact for an RV, you should get on a rental ASAP. This time last year I looked at pretty much every RV rental spot south of Sudbury in Ontario and they all get booked for the summer months in December. And for the record the best deal I could find was at Thousand Islands RV Centre in Ganonoque.. AD

boogieknight
I agree with fluffhead77, but it's always a good time either way. I was really surprized to see Madeleine Peyroux on the bill. She is an amazing jazz type singer. Her album dreamland is amazing, kind of ella fitzgerald like. Super Freak
When they(festivals) get too big, I get turned off. I like the smaller ones is all. The way that line up read, seemed to be a fest I could cope with, but when they add too many big names...it's just too much. For me, anyway... Del
Lots of good bands playing: Allman Bros Alison Krauss & Union Station Modest Mouse Bela Fleck Acoustic Trio John Prine YMSB My Morning Jacket Keller Williams Earl Scruggs & Friends Umphreys McGee KDTU Particle Xavier Rudd The Gourds Still not going... I think I'm giving up on my dreams of hitting a 'Roo... Too hot, too big, too far away and not enough time to see full sets... What if I went all the way down there to catch, say, Modest Mouse, but had to miss half their set, because I didn't want to miss, say, Umphrey's? How do you pick? I got a (small) taste of this at Evolve last year, when I left certain sets to make sure I wouldn't miss full sets of another band. I missed some good sh!t, too... No, for the money and time I'd need to invest in this, I think I'll pass...

No, for the money and time I'd need to invest in this, I think I'll pass... Hey Del, Cyberhippie says the same thing you do about "How do you pick?" It's simple if two bands were playing separate venues on the same night in Ottawa you make your decision and go with it, right? Bonnaroo is the same thing. If you want to see Modest Mouse more than Umphrey's McGee than see all of Modest Mouse's set and miss some or all of Umphrey's. I've been to all three bonnaroo festivals so far and though I'm not overly thrilled with this years line up right now, I'm still going to go because for the bang for your buck you can't beat bonnaroo. All I care about it the music and if you work hard enough you can see more music at bonnaroo in a weekend than most see in a month. Here's the acts I've seen at all three bonnaroo festivals: 2002: Friday June 21: The Big Wu (Complete) Umphrey's McGee (Complete) Col. Les Clapool's Flying Frog Brigade (Partial) Gov't Mule (Complete) Widespread Panic (Partial) Karl Denson's Tiny Universe (Partial) Saturday June 22: Del McCoury Band (Complete) Col. Bruce Hampton & The Code Talkers (Complete) Ben Harper (Partial) Widespread Panic (Partial) moe. (Complete) Sunday June 23: Galactic (Complete) Ween (Complete) Vinroc (DJ Set)(Complete) Phil Lesh & Friends w/ very special guest Bob Weir (Complete) Z-Trip (DJ Set)(Complete) Trey Anastasio (Complete) Complete: 12 Partial: 5 Total: 17 2003: Friday June 13: Rebirth Brass Band (Partial) Yonder Mountain String Band (Complete) Jack Johnson (Partial) Lucinda Williams (Complete) Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals (Complete) Kid Koala (DJ Set) (Complete) Neil Young & Crazy Horse (Complete) Saturday July 14: The Wailers (Complete) Emmylou Harris (Complete) Robert Randolph & the Family Band (Partial) Leo Kottke & Mike Gordon (Complete) Z-Trip (Partial) Widespread Panic (Complete) The Flaming Lips (Complete) Sunday June 15: The New Deal (Partial) Warren Haynes (Complete) Drive By Truckers (Partial) Galactic (Complete) James Brown (Complete) moe. (Partial) The Dead (Complete) Complete: 14 Partial: 7 Total: 21 2004: Friday, June 11: Calexico (Soundcheck) Los Lonely Boys (Partial) Calexico (Complete) Wilco (Complete) Patti Smith (Partial) Bob Dylan (Complete) Dave Matthews & Friends (Complete) Vida Blue (Complete) Umphrey's McGee (Partial) Saturday June 12: Los Lobos (Complete) Gomez (Complete) Gov't Mule (Partial) My Morning Jacket (Partial) Steve Winwood (Complete) The Dead (Partial) Sunday June 13: Burning Spear (Complete) Taj Mahal (Complete) Guster (Complete) David Byrne (Partial) Trey Anastasio (Complete) Complete: 12 Partial: 7 Total: 19 It's hard work seeing that many bands at bonnaroo, but for me it's well worth the trip past Nashville, Tennessee. Now my fingers are still crossed for Cream.
Del
Fair enough, but after Evolve, I swore my next festival would be a little something for me... (ie. not as much work) May CTMF is an all-play-no-work kind of event, but as far as the summer goes, I'll probably be sticking around the NE United States... Jaimoe
If I had gumption, I'd go to this year's Bonnaroo just to see Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine, ABB, M. Ward and especially My Morning Jacket. There are great acts scheduled this year, and I'm sure some major BIG performers will be added soon.
