and as I posted in this thread:

In the movie Madagascar, there's a great scene done to the entire Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" song where the 4 New York zoo toughies, now in the wild, discover how brutal the 'law of the jungle/survival of the fittest' really is. They prance through lush rainforest, mesmerized by its beauty but continually witness smaller creatures being gobbled up by bigger creatures. At one point they rescue a helpless, teeny, huge-eyed duckling, place her back in the water, and watch as seconds later she's a gator's breakfast!!

I wonder just how many movies have used that one particular song -- and often for the counterpoint it can provide, as above???

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's Somewhere Over the Rainbow that segues into What A Wonderful World

Completely agree! I love that CD and that song in particular.

Songs that have always made me misty-eyed are:

Crash - Dave Mathews Band

Black - Pearl Jam

Me and Bobby MacGee - Janice Jopplin

and Wading in the Velvet Sea - Phish (when Paige broke down at Coventry I was right there with him!)

hmm lots of tear jerkers out there but I gotta say

hands down...

Beck....Baby you're a lost cause.

Heard it at 6am and hours later I'm still awash in blues!

What a wonderfull world allways gets me too along with Ripple and a bunch of others mentioned here...blackbird and more...such a sentimental fool am I! :)

i wasn't at the show, but Phish doing Terrapin is pretty incredible. You can hear the collective stun that hit the audience as they figured it out

ha...I was there...thanks for the memory train...shivers is all I can say about that and the memory re visited.

As for Beck...well so moved was I this morning after hearing Sea Change...well I decided to run w/the full moon vibe of the day and buy the CD on my way home...its gonna be a bluesy night of Beck and Grolsch!

lol...if I ever meet Beck...I'd like to give him a hug and say "dude, I understand...you're incredible".

Oh, and Carry Me Carrie by Dr. Hook (lyrics by Shel Silverstein):

Second street and broadway

Sitting in a doorway

Head held in his hands

Looked to all the world

Like he was praying

Foot wrapped in an old rag

Bottle in a brown bag

I saw him try to stand

Then i heard the words

That he was saying

(He said)

Come on Carrie carry me a little farther

Come on Carrie carry me one more mile

I don't know where its leading to

But I know I can make it if I lean on you so

Come on Carrie, carry me a little

I carried you so now carry me a little

Come on Carrie carry me.. a little while, yeah

He struggled to his feet

And he staggered down the street

To the window of a five and dime

He stood and laughed a while

At his reflection

Then i heard him shoutin'

Something 'bout a mountain

He could surely climb

If she was only there to point

The right direction

(But she aint no.. no she aint nooooo)

Come on Carrie carry me a little farther

Come on Carrie carry me one more mile

I don't know where its leading to

But I know I can make it if I lean on you so

Come on Carrie, carry me a little

I carried you so now carry me a little

Come on Carrie carry me.. a little while, yeah

Gotta' carry me! Carry me Carrie!

Gotta' carry me!
