This opens the door to the possibility of a Christmas election.

Can't they make the campaign longer than the 30-some day minimum though? The earliest it could be with opposition days is near Xmas right, but can't they extend the length of the campaign when the election is called?

I don't want an Xmas election. I would love to vote, but not during the holidays. Low turnout will probably mean a minority with a weak weak mandate.

I can't see a Christmas election happening just because it would piss off way too many people. If this happens I hope the Liberals get back in with a landslide.

And if it comes in February I still hope the Liberals kick ass.

The public already voted with knowledge of the sponsorship deal last election. Stephen Harper needs to face the realization that few people want to see him in power.

the conservatives have got to have their fingers crossed in hopes of a long campaign.. it's their only hope.. that and getting rid of harper the quack.

maybe i'm old school but i hope those lying cheating scumbags of liberalism don't get a majority government. gomery or no gomery, paul martin's a crook.

hehe.. found the lyrics online

A-one, and a-two, and a-here we go again--E-L-E-C-T-I-O-N

and I'm thinking, "Great! Maybe now something will change."

but surprise, surprise, all the candidates are the same

Well, I've been holding my breath and I've been hoping for the best

but now I'll have to close my eyes when I make my X

'cause I don't see the point 'cause there's not one there to see

and if there is a difference could you point it out to me?

Will it always be a choice between the devil or his twin?

Anyway you slice it, it's never us that wins

and if there was a difference, it's long been sucked away

and the proof is in the ballot--a very sad display

A hand is shook, a promise sold, a smile in place, a story told

A day is named, a door is closed, a mask exchanged, no scam exposed

CHORUS:

and we've been screaming for years, but it falls on deaf ears

Why is it all we ever get is short-sighted power-hungry jerks?

I'm not totally against the system, I just want it to work

Slight of hand of the political practice

One turns the screws while the other distracts us

Try and spot the difference--no difference there

The doctor is sick and nobody cares

Promises, promises, rarely kept

Cream of the crap of the inept

Try and spot the difference--no difference there

The doctor is sick and nobody cares

CHORUS:

and we've been screaming for years, but it falls on deaf ears

Why is it all we ever get is narrow-minded egocentric jerks?

I'm not totally against the system, I just want it, I just want it, I just want it to work

["Government!"]

and there's still nobody to vote for

Nobody to vote for

Still nobody to vote for

and there's still nobody to vote for

We're paying for the sceptre like we paid for the crown

The price keeps going up while the qualities go down

You're talking like I'm crazy when I say the system's flawed

How can you say there's not a problem when you see who's at the top?

A hand is shook, a promise sold, a smile in place, a story told,

a day is named, a door is closed, a mask exchanged, no scam exposed

CHORUS:

And we've been screaming for years, but it falls on deaf ears

Why is it all we ever get is self-serving elitist jerks?

I'm not totally against the system, I just want it, I just want it, I just want it to work

["Government!"]

and there's still nobody to vote for

Nobody to vote for

Still nobody to vote for

and there's still nobody to vote for

Vote for

Nobody to vote for

Still nobody to vote for

and there's still nobody to vote for

I'm glad someone caught on to that....

Gandharvas were such a good band... Raised by Swans is one of the guys' new projects, can't remember if it's Jago or Howden... just checked... it's Howden.

back to the topic... I don't think Eric Howden would support the government either... yeah. that's it.

That was just for you (and your hijack) AD. I'm pretty sure I opened for Rusty one time. Maybe they were still called One Free Fall at the time? And I recorded at the 13 Engines drummer's studio in Kingston. Yes, I'm pretty sure they were all anti-establishment guys.

The next opposition days are Nov. 15 (CPC), Nov. 17 (BQ), and Nov. 24 (NDP). I'm guessing that none of the parties are going to put forward a non-confidence motion on their own ... there is a money bill (spending estimates) on Dec. 8, so I'd guess that if it happens, that's the day it happens.

So, (Dec. 8 + 36 days + however many days to the first non-holiday Monday) = earliest day of possible election in that scenario. But it's pretty early to tell.

aw geez the memories of 90 canadian rock.

I saw rusty a few times.. I met the guys once and complained a little about the price of the show.. he told me I shoudl have stayed home and spent the money on weed. He wasn;t mad at me for complaining, it was liek 15 bucks, I think he understood that 15 bucks is a lot for a 16 year old kid to pay to see them, not to mention haveing to use a fake id to get in.

I also saw slowburn live, scratching post, the superfriendz, hayden, been a while since I've listened to that stuff.
