Booche
Look, I loved them and all but come on Bouche. There is no comparison based on the artists Jon named up there. Different leagues, if not different sports altogether.

Esau.
you should hear the Barr Brother's new bluegrass act "Sister Brother".My curiosity is now peaked. I assume they must have a new album out then? Because what I listened to wasn't bluegrass.

edger
I am also a huge bluegrass fan, yet admittedly undereducated.Anyone got some recommendations on some good festivals to hit (even for next summer) either around here or just south of the border? YearsAlongTheSea
For Bluegrass, there's a lot going around.Topping the list in my opinion is Yonder Mountain String BandDavid Grisman is a legend and a virtuosoSCI suck; yes, it's on topicBela Fleck is amazingGillian Welch is an angelJohn Hartford is a forefatheras is Bill Monroe and many others; brain fartSouth Austin Jug Band are greatThere's a lot of good bluegrass in Colorado; a feeding ground for collaborations of all kinds. Bluegrass has definately taken a self-induced tangent or diversification of the genre itself over the last little while and things have gotten really interesting. Fusion is the future. I''m thinking drum and bass with bluegrass ripping overtop but that's just me.

Dr_Evil_Mouse
There's a good bit of buzz about the Valley Bluegrass Festival up here in Renfrew. There's a staggering amount of talent that never gets much press who play in the O. Valley. But as far as bigger names go, you can't go wrong with ... Alison Krauss, or anyone who comes into her orbit.
