Blues Fest picks for Friday

Gogo Bordello was awe-inspiring. I'm not sure I was in the right frame of mind (sober, in the still bright light of afternoon outdoors in a pastoral setting) for it, but they put on a heck of a show.

Built To Spill. Wow. I knew it would be good, but what I saw burned me to a find, powdery pile of cinders. I was pretty close for the first part of the set, but decided to move back, as it was a bit intense for me. It sort of made me think of the bizarre love child of Hüsker Dü and The Slip.

I caught about the last half hour of Edie Brickell, and was glad I did, as their performance had an infectious happiness to it, and was also drop-dead funky and jammy.

Aloha,

Brad

Awesome. All I needed out of them was a Big Dipper, but they gave me that +plus+ a Brian Eno cover. I swear I felt my cock stir. Just sayin'.

Once

When I was little someone pointed out to me

Some constellations but the big dipper's all I could see

That brontasaurus must have stood a thousand miles high

That brontasaurus laying on its side up in the sky

Bottoms up and this time

Won't you let me be?

Bottled up but this time

Won't you rescue me?

You should have been here last night and heard

what the big dipper said to me

Jack thought it twice and thought that that fact made it true

Some brains just work that way that's what chemicals can do

He thought he'd have a beer thought he was alone

He thought an Albertson's stir fry dinner would make his apartment a home

Bottoms up and this time

Won't you let me be?

Bottled up but this time

Won't you rescue me?

You should have been here last night and heard what the big dipper said to me

I thought I bored me but I learned to think like you

Now nothing bores me that's that nothing is thought through

Bottoms up and this time

Won't you let me be?

Bottled up but this time

Won't you rescue me?

Thought it out and this time

It's all I can see

(You should have been here last night and heard what the big dipper said to me)

I'd put this in the random lyrics thread, but it is germane to the conversation and thus not properly random.

Caught part of Cat Empire, quite cool. Edie Brickell was all kinds of awesome. I intended to see all of INXS , the band was tight but quite frankly JD Fortune drove me away with his lame stage patter .. quite frankly, he is a wanker. So I checked out the rest of Ten Years After ... even without Alvin Lee, the kicked muy mucho ass. A fun night.

So I checked out the rest of Ten Years After ... even without Alvin Lee' date=' the kicked muy mucho ass. A fun night.[/quote']

So who replaced him? I thought I read somewhere that it was Dave Mason?

Nobody famous, near as I know ... a young guy named Joe Gooch who smoked on guitar.
