Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest Line-up Announced

Oh joy...

winterlseep got added.

and I have a free festival pass.

you made me very happy.

Well it's not known if your festival pass will get you into any of the club shows in the Bluesfest Byward part of the event (that's what that big list I posted is). If Wintersleep is on the big outdoor stage it's likely a free show. But if they're in a club you'd likely have to pay a cover / ticket charge. We'll see for sure when the schedule and ticketing information is released on Wednesday

Well I for one am very excited by what's going on, and will probably catch a lot of the free stuff in the free tent as it looks like the headliners will be strong. Hope to catch some of the club shows too if they aren't too pricey.

A little freaked out by how few band names I actually recognize on there, and even fewer whose music I've actually heard!

I'd like to see:

George Clinton & the P-Funk Allstars

United Steelworkers of Montreal

Lee Scratch Perry

Kid Koala

Serena Ryder

a DJ set by Speech of Arrested Development

Matt Mays

Wintersleep

Thunderheist

Elliot Brood

RJD2

Great Lake Swimmers

Gift of Gab

I'm sure there tons of other good ones that I don't know about.

just checked out the actual lineup. a free p-funk show that I can walk to from home. my kids would definitely dig that show. but do i want to miss ben harper? seen him many times. but this is with the relentless 7. and the wife is a huge fan. i know she won't be missing him.

on another note. peter murphy is actually playing at midnight on thursday, at mavericks. will be going to that show. I'm flying to Beijing the next day. so can be tired on the plane.

BWM re: beijing and the fact that you are an econ (i think) do you work for federal govt.? just curious as my sis does and goes to beijing fairly often, wondering if you are on the same team :)

i am an economist and work for the fed gov't. but i'm a health economist. going to a conference in beijing. it's my first time going. so not on the same team.

I'm really, really excited for this as well. I didn't want to get too excited until I could see the schedule. That most shows are happening after bluesfest and BSS not clashing with too much when they play is great. Alberta Cross at midnight on the Sunday night at the Rainbow is what I am most excited for. The website for this though provides little information. Since this is directly funded by the feds, maybe no charges at the doors?

Shawn Scallen, Ottawa promoter/booker/guru who is involved with this event said this on punkottawa:

the byward outdoor stage is free

the capital shows will have a hard ticket - ie you have to pay

we're planning on having bluesfest tickets get you into the over venues (space permitting), or paying cover at the first venue you go to and getting into any other venues that night (space permitting)

this should all be confirmed and announced soon

that 'space permitting' thing is ridiculous though - like Mavericks is the ideal venue for Basia Bulat and Great Lake Swimmers on the same night. Imagine the lineup for that. Stupid scheduling. Lots of other beefs as well but oh well.

I know how much you guys are all dying to see KISS, so here's what you should do next Wednesday night the 15th:

6pm Rogers Stage: Arkells

8pm Hard Rock Cafe Stage: Lee Harvey Osmond

9pm Bank of America Stage: Kiss

then

10:30pm Irene's: Sandman Viper Command and Huron

Take Thursday off, you'll thank me I promise.

Just had a look... So are wristbands $10 or $12? Anyway looks like one of these $10 or $12 wristbands gets you into all of the clubs on the day that you buy it.. Which is a great deal!

Can we get wristbands ahead of time?

Exceptions:

Peter Murphy $15.00 buy tickets here (includes Ad-ver-sary)

Great Lake Swimmers $15.00 buy tickets here (includes Basia Bulat)

Matt Mays $22.50 buy tickets here (includes Dean Lickyer)

Wintersleep $22.50 buy tickets here (includes Mother's Children)

Jokers of the Scene $12.00 (includes Flosstradamus)
