Always a good show. ------------------------------------------------The Kruger Brothers are back in Ottawa on November 7 at St. Brigid's Centre (previously St. Brigid's cathedral) in the Byward Market, Ottawa. Experience what happens when these innovative and soulful world-class virtuosos put on an acoustic string music performance not to be forgotten.Coming from Europe to the USA, mentored by Bill Monroe and Doc Watson, with a broad set of influences including classical, jazz, bluegrass and other genres, the Kruger Brothers have developed a unique and memorable sound of their own. Uwe Kruger on guitar and Jens Kruger on banjo team up with bassist Joel Landsberg for performances that keep audiences alternately roaring with applause or staring in dumbfounded amazement, while the Krugers display their jaw-dropping talent, spontaneity, humour and sheer joy in playing music. And for the record, the Kruger Bros is totally worth 30 bucks if any of you are wondering. Highly entertaining.

Dr_Evil_Mouse
The Gladstone show last year blew my head clear away. Not only is there pure virtuosity there, and not only is it totally unpretentious, but they can be downright funny to boot. This is musicianship at its clean, honest best. I'm really hoping to have the time free to catch them again.

Velvet
Apparently it'll be a mini-mini-set, as the promoter freaked out a little.
phunkyb
Just saw them in Toronto. They played a great show! Probably about 75 people at the St. Lawrence theatre. Ended up moving to the second row for the second set. These guys really love to play.
Big Wooly Mammoth
These guys really love to play.they do. and it really shows. last night's show was great as usual. they had a drummer with them which added a whole new dimension. didn't see any of the usual suspects at the show though. where were ya'll?the venue is an old catholic church and has not been at all renovated. so you're sitting in pews with the kneeling benches intact. bar was next to the confessionals. and there was a nice big blood dripping jesus on the cross on one of the pillars near the stage. Dr_Evil_Mouse
where were ya'll?Yeah, not so happy to have missed them this time, but I was recording my the band into the evening, and Deb has been with a friend in labour for the last two days (and is still not back!). Glad you were able to take them in, at least. I'd love to have heard them with a drummer.
