Whitey
One of the greatest players of my time, cheers indeed. And one of my favourite players. A non-cheater in a league full of cheaters.
Booche
One of my all-time favorites too and was at his best when I actually still cared about baseball.

Northern Wish
The only athlete that I ever actually made money on buying and selling his cards. Those 89 Upper Deck rookies went from a buck to $50 in no time flat and they were one of the few cards in the modern era that you could sell for close to "face value" ie. Beckett Guide.
c-towns
Does the Beckett Guide still exist? I used to buy/sell cards for a while back in 91-94 all the time, I should pull my cards out and take a look sometime, mostly hockey though.
Northern Wish
I honestly have no idea.... There was also Tuff Stuff but that was more for bball and fball.Unfortunately the years you quoted are some of the worst years in history for cards that HELD their value. The glut on the market during that period ensured that for every $100 a card was worth- you might now only be able to recoup $2 to $5 if you are lucky.I have several boxes that date back to 82-83 including full sets, primo rookies etc and I still can't get .10 on the dollar for most of it. Hal Johnson
It's fucked up when I see a player begin his career and retire in my life time. Im getting old dammit. All the best Griffey, you were one of a kind.
Jaimoe
Jim Rome said yesterday on his radio show that no way did Jr. retire on his own terms: last place ball club, in the first third of the season; he was either going to be traded or released outright. Jr. wanted to retire a Mariner, and thus he did.
