shainhouse
I know I'm going to be creating alot of contraversy in this post, but this post IS NOT meant to be controversial. I'm asking this for a very specific reason, one I can't tell for a few weeks yet, and out of shear curiousity. Again, they don't have to be in any order, I'd just like to know what we, the community thinks as a whole as to who are the top ten bands touring around right now. Thanks. My ten: (in no order) 1. Fat Cats 2. nero 3. Burt Neilson Band 4. Grand Theft Bus 5. Jimmy Swift Band 6. Blue Quarter 7. Recipe 8. Slammin' Jack 9. Jomomma 10. Erin Smith Band

mikey d
i havent had the opportunity to see many of the candian jambands live yet, but without a doubt nero who are certainly one of my favourite bands period. if you consider the silverhearts jam, then them too. and im not sure if bullfrog are canadian but i totally dig them as well. cripps
If there was a whack more than 10 Canuck jam bands the poll results might be interesting. Why not ask for just 5? Seems that the first list covered most of the pro touring jam outfits I'm familiar with. Must say the boys in the Dog are missing from yer list there though. Whatabout Bullfrog, do they fit the category cleanly?
cripps
snicker....just noticed the previous post mentioned bullfrog and I missed it! I kinda think they probably do. There is also a great band from Niagara called Palooka!

Jaimoe
Here's the one's that I've seen, starting with the best of them all: nero Jimmy Swift Fat Cats Big Sugar Crazy Strings Burt Neilson Jommomma Kevin Breit Caution Jam Diesel Dog Downtime I haven't seen these two yet, although I know most of the members of both bands: Dr. Huxtable Uncle Seth Blue Grassy High
cripps
Nero > Grand Theft > The Rheos > Wassabi > Palooka > New Deal > Jimmy Swift > Bull Frog > Kevin Breit > Fat cats Seems to me the whole idea of “jamming” and jam bands is not so much about endless wanking solos and meandering about aimlessly, but about finding and establishing some sort of musical place in which you periodically find something reeeeeel beautiful and often quite UNIQUE! Sooooo I picked these 10 because they all have some sort of freshness in their approach or sound. I slotted Nero at the beginning cause they just completely mess me up, and I also book-ended the Fatties as they are the groundbusters of our jam scene, and are THE pre-eminent “Dead-style” band in the country (yeah yeah, I know that’s not all they do). CyberHippie
Just picked up the Bullfrog cd on Friday. It's really good! From top to bottom it's not the best album ever, but there are some definite highlights. This is a tough one, because I'm sure I'd come up with a different 10 each day. Here's 10 that I'm thinking of right now, which includes bands from the past: - Fat Cats - Hiway Freeker - Friends of Heffner - Blue Quarter - One Step Beyond - The New Deal - Nero - Wassabi Collective - The Product - Creaking Tree String Quartet

c-towns
I agree with all that I've saw, but missing are The Vibe Riders, Moses Mayes and Themasses. I'm not to sure if Themasses even play anymore. I don't think I'd really call them a jamband but Chris Colepaugh and the Cosmic Crew put on a good show.
