  1. We might be able to come help. It just depends on how cooperative Aslan is being... the last thing I'd want would be to get in the way instead. Maybe we can show up and give it a shot, see how it goes. I'll talk to the boss...
  2. Big benefit for Integrate this March 30, Capital Music Hall Souljazz Orchestra Nomadic Massive DJ Rise Ashen Andrew Vincent and the Pirates Breakdancing and slam Most know Souljazz is awesome. But Nomadic Massive(hiphop funk) is the surprisingly good. 12 piece hip hop collective from Montreal, share MC with female vocalist as well. Awesome beats. Integrate this - an event by Council of Canadians bringing together activists, academics, politicians and journalists to educate on The Security and Prospericty Partnership, a deal that is not healthy for the public interest and environment. If you interested check out www.integratethis.ca
  3. This was an awesome show. Worth checking out...
  4. Thanks for posting this. I was looking for this info yesterday.
  5. So who's heading to the Collingwood show? Tentitive times at the Huron House (94 Pine St): 10:00 - 1am Show Have a good one!
  6. Unfortunately I wont be there. Dave's playing Collingwood and so I'll be home with babe. I was hoping though...
  7. I'll be there for a bit Looking forward to seeing you Brad!
  8. Wow, you always notice these things before I do. Thanks Brad.

    Our new baby...

Thanks! We've been trying convince him that the couch is for humans only. He curls himself up into a tiny ball to convince us its ok...he's not taking up room... haha, those big eyes can look so hard done by. He's a real goof. Buries his dog bowl and food under the blankets. And when he gets moving he bounds across the house in three strides! Milly (our border collie) is not to fond of the new house clown but we're confident he'll win her over. And Aslan, is getting used to him. We have to watch Dakota's wagging tail around Aslan... so their time will be supervised for a while. His bark makes the house vibrate. Thats the one thing Aslan doesn't like. I was just told by a great dane expert that he'll need a dog coat and boots for going outside in winter. I guess we're going to be one of 'those' people. Thanks for all the congrats!
  10. is a great dane! His name is Dakota, he's 1.5 years, 105lbs of love and happiness, fawn with brindle. He's absolutely gorgeous, I'll post pictures later. One of the best things is that he's getting us out and walking to burn off his energy (and our winter chubbs). Hopefully Dave can post pictures later. Anyone else had a dane before? Share some wisdom, insight?
  11. I thought about this festy last year. It looks so beautiful. I think Aslan and I might go this year.
  12. Poor you! Perhaps with all the meds the forced rest will actually be fun?!

I'll keep an eye in our neighbourhood. It would be extra sweet to have you guys close by!
  15. Not the first time stuff has been stolen from the Umphrey's stage. I wonder where the binder was that it was accessible... You'd think it would be kept under lock and key. I hope they get it back. I suspect they will.
  16. Happy Birthday Chris. I hope the day was a good one.
  17. YATS, that was good of you. I think a couple jerks caught zero at a bad time and you bore the brunt. I've pm'ed you zero. I know its too late. Sorry I wasn't available to help.

    Coco Love Alcorn?

Half the story was missing. As if they took a samurai sword and chopped it through the middle.

    Coco Love Alcorn?

Thanks Brad! Enjoying your morning coffee?
  20. You going to tell us the name of your band Jordan Patrick? It would help if we knew the genre as well. Tips for getting your music out there. - I'll give you a couple of the big names in Ottawa for getting music heard and supported. 1. Paul Symes (Black Sheep Inn). Paul has a big pull at the Ottawa Bluesfest. If he loves your band you're in a good place. Try book a night at the Black Sheep, give him a demo, talk to him about your band. 2. Chris (Mavericks/Dekcuf) These two venues are so great for live music downtown. Chris also promotes shows at other venues. If he loves your music, he'll give you an opening slot for a bigger touring band perhaps even at a larger venue. 3. Zaphods. Dont know them personally but they have a lot of great bands coming through and are almost always busy. 3. If you music works genre-wise. Promote your shows here on Jambands.ca, PunkOttawa and poster downtown. 4. Make friends with bloggers, writers and tapers. There's a few hot blog sites like Mockingmusic and I heart music. If they like you you'll get lots of free marketing. As for papers if you get an opportunity to meet Alan Whigney or writers from the Ottawa Xpress do so. Pass on your music to them and make them your friends. They'll find it harder to trash you... Tapers like BradM are the best for getting your music heard when you're not performing. 5. Develop an email list and send out press releases before shows so we can check you out. Is that a start?
  21. I dont even want to see their album covers. Like my new avatar?
  22. I wouldnt say 'huge' having only seen them here that one time in Ottawa but I have downloaded their high quality matrix offerings and lost my fucking shit numerous times. A jaunt to Montreal would not be given a second thought on my part. Hell' date=' I am seriously considering that TO show even though it is midweek. [insert subliminal advertising here']Jaimoe would love those guitar players.[/insert subliminal advertising here] That would be awesome. I hope you're there. I'll be at Rochester and Toronto. If it wasn't for mommy-ing I'd have been a lost cause a long time ago. This is one band I could happily follow around the world. Yup, seriously. And, I like the name. Its grown on me. Its actually after a distant cousin of Brendan's, a lawyer from NY if I remember correctly. His name is Humphrey Mcgee.
  23. Booche are you a huge Um fan? I had no idea. I felt so alone in this world! You cant have written that unless you were a big time fan. Perhaps a closeted fan? I'm stuggling with how to word that question. Stasik's been there since day one pre-1998. I imagine he's used to it. Jakes the nutcase. You'd classify BB as a nutcase as well? IMO Hardly. Rather a smooth, soulful guitarist with an edge of Cinninger influence.
  24. Phorbsie. I saw them I think three times this past year... Loved every single second. I seriously cant say enough about this band. And I have at least one of their shows or studio albums playing at any given time. I have found with Um over the past few years that my appreciation has increased with my understanding of their music. Take their Jimmy Stewarts for example, watching/listening closely I've developed a huge respect for their improv. It is incredibly sophisticated. Very cool article on Jimmy Stewards and Jazz Odysseys right here http://www.umphreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=23093.0/
