  4. Stumbled across this site today - Rheostatics Live There are live mp3s, videos, demos, radio shows... Sounds cool. Haven't downloaded anything yet, but a good resource for those of you who don't listen. Now you can - for free. Also of note, Don Kerr's mypace site says he's playing at the final show on March 30. Maybe this means Dave Clarke too? Can't wait for that night. Bittersweet.

    Crock Pot

i did davey boy's 'chicken plus sauce' butter chicken in the crock pot a week ago, it was great. although it cooks rather fast, had to keep it on warm for most of the day as it had fully cooked through on 2 hours of Low. also made a pretty standard butternut squash soup. deelish.
  8. the drive i bought that is corrupt now is a standard Western DIgital hard drive. the case was about $45. takes 2 minutes to put together. taking the cheap road, well technically i'd agree with the comment. although there are many cheap products that will work, but you're taking a bigger chance. that said, western digital is a reputable company and their drive is fucking up my day. (although i have no idea what the cause is, probably isn't related to the drive at all, although i have no viruses, drive wasn't physically damaged, power supply is sound... etc...) i'd rather spend $99 than $499. (from what i've heard the western digital MyBook Pro drives are the best external drives on the market right now... and they're the most expensive i've seen)
  9. yeah i've experienced it all at work, but this is the first time at home. just bought the drive a month ago, of course it's off warranty now. ran 3 virus checkers, malware etc... nothing seems to be wrong. although much of the disk is suddenly corrupted today. hooked up to a UPS / surge protector... frustrating. ah well. so it goes. 10. cool thanks my western digital 500 gb external drive (regular SATA drive in an enclosure) is dying on my today, i bought one of those i/o Magic 250 gb drives KevO posted above. frigging drive is eating through my files. and it's supposed to be my reliable backup!!! arg. spending my new year's eve day burning dvds like crazy right now. ad
  11. usb 2 is faster than firewire though... (480 vs 400) or are you talking about firewire 2? i don't think that has been released yet... or perhaps you mean firewire is more reliable than usb? is it?
  12. i've run checkdisk 9 or 10 times on an external drive because errors keep popping up and files are getting corrupted. Chkdisk is finding tons of errors, I'm wondering if there is a way to print the contents of a DOS window (i'm running it from a command line) so that I can show the results to someone who knows stuff about computers.... anyone know? edit - and when i say print, i mean print to a text file

    Stephen Malkmus

start and end with pavement. i found his solo stuff as weaksauce. (the first one was ok i guess) i dunno. go with pavement. seen him a few times live and pavement once and i much preferred the pavement show. however pavement was the best band* of the 90s so i could be biased. ad *along with all the other good bands of the 90s
