  1. If I owned TicketBastard I would definitely make sure that I wasn't the one making the most money on a show. Sure I'm a bad businessman, but I'm a nice guy.
  2. For The Hip in Boston the Ticketbastard fees were more than the ticket itself. There are so many reasons to hate Ticketbastard.
  3. I love it when holes get poked in my cynicism!
  4. Sorry for the cynicism, but Earth Hour? I guess Earth Day took up too much of people's time?
  5. This whole not-going-to-concerts-anymore-'cuz-I-spend-too-much-money-on-concerts thing sucks.
  6. Okay, I'll play Bluesfest wishlist: While I agree that most of Saxberg's suggestions are possible, especially Petty and Wonder, here's other bands that I could see playing: Tragically Hip (it's been a few years) Neil Young (can they finally nab him?) Bruce Springsteen Rush (why the hell not?) Jerry Lee Lewis (wasn't he actually on the bill for a few minutes last year) Randy Bachman (I can't believe they haven't booked him before) Ringo Starr (ain't gonna happen, but I'd love it) Eric Clapton Billy Tallent Annie Lennox I like Bluesfest.

    Family Day?

I'd rather be working, but I ain't complaining. I do however, find it upsetting that we've missed another oppourtunity for a Terry Fox Day or a Tommy Douglas Day, or a Louis Reil Day or something. Family Day, hmmmph.
  8. Tickets for the '82 MLG shows went on sale at Lamport Stadium (I think that was the name). I waited 28 hours for tickets and had the time of my life. I was #628 in line (the first thousand were given numbers).
  9. Angus Young is one of the true heroes of rock guitar soloing and he is unfalteringly humble about it, always deflecting praise to his brother, who he claims is the best musician in the band. 2 points AC/DC. And from 15 years of teaching rock guitar I'll tell ya this: kids are always asking for AC/DC tunes; they always have. And they ask for different tunes, I've probably taught twenty of their songs over the years. The rare time I get asked for an Aerosmith tune it's exclusively Walk This Way or Dream On. I'm surprised nobody's ever even asked for Sweet Emotion. Good song, that. So AC/DC has remained consistently relevant for guitar students whereas Aerosmith has remained consistently barely on the radar. Several points AC/DC, methinks.
  10. Where'd you find that info bradm?
  11. You mean Memphis for a showcase, right?
  12. Hey all, Just a note to let y'all know TJH will be at The Horseshoe next Tuesday, the 19th. Go see 'em, they're fantastic.
  13. I don't own a single AC/DC album, but I list their live show as probably the best rock/non-jammy show I've seen. Those guys really know how to rock your face off, and every single song they play is their biggest hit.
  14. Are you really saying that tracks like Jailbreak, Thunderstruck, Hells Bells, Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, and Back In Black (to name a random sampling) all sound the same? Absurd.
  15. I don't suppose any of you are flying in on Friday afternoon?
  16. I immediately scrolled to the bottom because I don't think I could bear to find that there might be people that answered Aerosmith to the question. Certainly based on live experiences there is absolutely no contest here - AC/DC wins hands down. C'mon now.
  17. For Colbert and Stewart the writers come back tomorrow. I think.
  18. Alternatively, if you guys have a cell I can probably borrow someone's when I get in there and give you a call.
  19. Duuuuuude! I totally want to hook up for some heady camp sharing! I don't have a cell phone but there are other ways. How are you guys getting from the airport to the fest? I don't arrive until noon on Friday, then I'll likely book the shuttle to the fest. We'll work out the details for hooking up. Now that I'm in, here's what I'm hoping to see: Friday Beasties Umphrees Saturday Pnuma Ben Folds MMSW/Ghostland REM Bisco? Sunday Martin Sexton Gov't Mule Phil & Friends What am I missing that I shouldn't miss?
  20. Okay, it looks like I'm in for a solo mission! Do any of you know about the shuttle from Ft. Lauderdale? Does it go from the airport, is it easy to find, do you have to prebook? Also, are you allowed to bring booze onsite with you?
  21. So, Ghostland Observatory and Pnuma are two recommendations that I'm unfamiliar with. Any others? How are y'all getting there? Flying to Lauderdale and taking the shuttle?
