I think it is very impressive that the first Steely Dan album since the 70's at that time, won the Grammy. Not a strange choice in my book. The playing is amazing, the players are world class and the chord changes are top notch. While I also think Kid A and Midnite Vultures are great albums, they do not have the musical sophistication of 2 against nature. I also think the fact that the Dan had been out of the game so long prior had something to do with the choice. Two against nature is a great album. Everything must go is the album that followed. It is not as good but is enjoyable and has some decent tracks like "Godwhacker". We need more bands the caliber of Steely Dan today.

Well Dirty Work was originally sung by David Palmer, a vocalist on their first album. What they do now is have their backup vocalist Cindy Mizell sing it. And wow does she nail it! P.S. Cousin Dupree is an amazingly well put together song and the album "2 against nature" is as vital as their classic albums. They won a Grammy for that one in 2000.
