  3. Hi there. I've been offered a job in Yellowknife, NWT for January-April (as part of the co-op program at school). Right now I'm really leaning towards taking it, and would be really appreciative of any input folks around here might have to offer in terms of living up North. (I should probably mention here that I'm a fan of cold weather, despite currently living in Victoria. I'm giving an answer by noon, Pacific time, on Thursday, so I'd love some feedback (be it positive or negative) in the meantime. Thanks in advance. Peace, Hart
  4. In a recent survey it was discovered the 94 of American women lost their virginity to Your Mother. The other 6 were incredibly fat or ugly.
  5. Sounds incredible, thanks for the report. I'm eager to hear what a Gord-fronted Sadies sound like. Also, just out of curiosity, if this was the second best show you saw this year, what was the best? Oh yeah, and I'm quite disappointed that you don't look like your avatar.
  6. Personally, I'd be interested to see what impact DVD sales have had on music stores, especially national and international chains. About five years ago, DVDs started creeping their way through music stores (and I'm not just talking about music docs here), to the point where in many chain stores, they take up half the store. The actual music selection in a bunch of stores is now limited to new releases, greatest hits compilations, and maybe one or two real gems (at best) from an established artist's back catalog. I wonder if, in addition to downloading/high prices/other market factors, this shift has had a negative impact. (I'm, of course, not talking here about quality independent shops that have stayed true to their musical roots).

  18. Apparently Rumpke Mountain is a garbage pile at a dump outside of town, which makes their name freakin' awesome. I was actually thinking bluegrass as well. the Gibson Brothers from Upstate New York play traditional bluegrass with a modern kick, and belt out spot-on harmonies. I've been big into these guys for the past couple of years.
  19. Only fifty bucks, you say? I'll take one in every colour. I think they're pretty brutal. Granted, I object to the way people overtake public space with noisy cell phone chatter, I don't think the way to reclaim that space is to abruptly and covertly hijack people's phone calls. A rude problem not well solved with a ruder solution. And besides, if someone's cell phone mysteriously cuts out all of a sudden, do you really think they'll just quietly hang up and put it away? Not so much.
  20. I'm only about halfway into this, but it's been great reading so far. Link
