  1. Funny that in the original quote he talks about how the other three have been talking to each other, but makes no mention of talking to any of them himself. On another note, I just noticed how the quote from the Detroit News substituted (anything) for "my left nut." Hilarious.
  2. Perhaps, but these things tend to be cyclical anyway. I would have a hard time believing that a huge percentage of the people who were on tour from, say '93-'95 were still around in '03-'04. Sure, people have grown up and moved on, but that was happening while they were still around as well. I suppose the question here is whether there are younger "kids" around who never saw them the first time(s) around who will start going to shows. For better or for worse, I think there absolutely would be. I know I could go for a heady "Long Cool Woman"->"Proud Mary" with "Thriller" set break music right about now.
  3. Hilarious. I'm definitely going to be telling that one at school tomorrow.
  4. Lawnchair forum, please.
  5. I hear you, brah. I was going to post a similar lamentation about living on the West Coast in general. Being a veggie I don't eat much fast food, but Harvey's can do the trick the morning after a few pops. There are A&Ws a plenty out here, but not so much on the Harvey's. Uuuuhhh, Matt? I have nothing but good things to say about you, but I don't think you quite understand the concept of "free" in this case.

  8. Fair enough, and I put myself in the "doesn't look likely" camp, but moving sporting events around for rock concerts is certainly not uncommon.
  9. When I was in my first (second?) year of undergrad, I got into the habit of occasionally adding an extra "mo" syllable into words, or adding "mophone" onto the end of them, a la Homer asking Lisa if she wanted to play the vi-a-mo-lin, ob-a-mo-boe, or sax-a-mophone. Hart is my first name, and so some friends started calling me Hartamophone. I outgrew the annoying habit, but some friends still call me that.

  11. I dig Phil, and go to see him when I can. That said, I wonder if this Warfield run was a little over the top. Playing albums in their entirety, the balloon drop, etc. seem like much ado about nothing. The Grateful Dead played their last Warfield show a long time ago, and I think Phil may have been overstating the significance of this run by pulling out all the bells and whistles. Last night looks like it was a crazy show and I'm looking forward to hearing it, but I wonder if Phil might be lacking a bit of perspective. At any rate, thanks for the updates and links, Kev. I've been enjoying them over the past few days.
  12. Nope. It'll be a heady, six hour "Built to Last."
  13. While we're all here, check out some hilarious testimony from Phil (in the midst of a sad and angry situation, mind you): . . I love the judge's reaction to "one big smoky haze."

  15. I have no problems with people snapping the odd picture or sending the odd text (hell, I do them both myself at times). Like anything else, though, it can get old quick. I was at a Red Sox game a couple of weeks ago, and the people behind me made repeated loud calls to friends of theirs elsewhere in the park, accompanied by standing up and waving to get their attention. Another one that gets really obnoxious is the "GUESS WHERE I AM?" phone call, shouted and repeated over and over.
  16. {{{Heady job vibes from Victoria headed up Island}}}
  17. Cheers, Steph! Hope it's a great one.
  18. It's only 1:30 on the Left Coast. I'm just home from the bar. Mmmm...mojitos.
  19. No because the 2 women that book for the club are both very anti-taper. I will no longer go to shows there. I've never been to Lee's' date=' but have heard (from Burnt) about their anti-taping stance, so if the show was happening there, I wouldn't risk coming all the way to Toronto. Aloha, Brad[/quote'] Really? Will you not go to a show if you can't tape?
  20. Perhaps, but for the past couple of years it seemed that the bulk of threads over there were started by people promoting shows. There's a difference between organic word of mouth and stealth advertising. Don't get me wrong, I think that promoters absolutely should post info about their shows on MBs, but it looked like that was almost all that had been happening on the Hub of late.
  21. 'Twas a great site a few years ago, and I used it all the time to get connected to people and shows when I lived out East. Seems like in the past couple of years, though, it had taken a nose-dive, with only a handful of regular posters and 80% of the threads being strictly for show-hyping.
  22. Holy shee-at, looks pretty slick. Being back on the Island for the Summer, I'm looking forward to this one. It may change my Northwest String Summit plans, but I'm fine with that.
  23. I was at the Albany show in this same run and it was the best Trey I'd seen in quite some time. I'm looking forward to checking this one out.
  24. A sad day indeed. That band is like family to each other, more so than most. RIP Danny. Edit to add: I just watched that video. Seems to me from the looks on their faces during the bows that they knew he was nearing the end. So sad.
