  1. I celebrate the guy's entire catalogue. --- The look on the Bobs' faces when Michael Bolton tells them they can just call him Mike is beautiful.
  2. I think that the Giants take the early lead, but New England comes through in the second half. The Pats sputtered last week and the G-Men are flying high, but New England is just too deep not to be able to pull one out today. Either way, it should be a great game.
  3. Funny to see this thread here today. I'm working my first office job ever right now, and the similarities have been hilarious/scary/depressing all at once. To name a few: 1. On one of my first couple of days, I was told "Yeah, ummm, Friday is brown bag lunch day, so if you want to I guess you can bring your lunch and we'll eat them in the conference room." Definitely reminded me of Hawaiian shirt day. 2. On the first pay day, do to a glitch in accounting, I did not receive my pay. ("Mr. Lumberg, I did not receive my pay this week.") 3. Red. Swingline. Staplers. I snapped the second of these two pictures as a study in comparison: Milton: Yours Truly:
  4. Linky CHINA RIDER FOR CHANGE! I, personally, am filing this under the "doubtful but possible" category.
  5. Reminds me of a situation that happened with my next door neighbour growing up. His house was broken into and the usual electronic stuff was stolen. Then, three weeks later it was broken into again. It would seem that whomever did it the first time figured out that there would be a bunch of shiny new stuff in there, ripe for the taking. You might want to take your business to a spot farther away from your hood, so that in case it was an inside job/setup, the guilty party won't be doubly rewarded by getting your (return?) business. ----- Thanks for the belly laugh.
  6. I am sitting at my kitchen table and can very clearly see my breath. It would seem that my furnace and water both thought this would be an excellent week to crap out, what with it being in the low -40s before the wind chill. Son of a bitch.
  7. That. Sucks. I can completely relate to the feeling of violation. Sending vibes from Yellowknife to Gatineau.
  8. With the wind it's currently a balmy forty-nine below in Yellowknife. It was colder this morning, -51 when I woke up. I'm all for getting bundled up and diggin' the cold, but I think the threshold has been crossed today. Carry on.
  9. The way I read the story was that it was a breakdown in communication. The show had told Ringo's camp how long he had to perform, but nobody ever told the artiste himself. I don't know, man, if you're willing to go on Regis & Kelly in the first place, how much artistic integrity do you really have left to protect?
  10. Right on, brother. Wishing you all the best and sending nothing but positive (and sober) vibes your way. Your body is going to thank you in a big way. Good luck with the first weekend. Peace, Hart
  11. I had heard the rumours over on the green board, but am still surprised by this. I had thought (perhaps gullibly) that he was serious about smartening up. Maybe he is, but this is pretty poor form (whatever the cause).
  12. Thanks, folks. I don't believe there could be greater praise from either of you.
  13. 336. Pre-war blues songs about death, without repeating an artist or song. 1. Leadbelly - Death Letter Blues 2. Blind Lemon Jefferson - See That My Grave Is Kept Clean 3. Robert Johnson - Dead Shrimp Blues 4. Tommy Johnson - Big Road Blues 5. Blind Willie Johnson - Jesus Make Up My Dyin' Bed (later remade by Dylan and Zeppelin going by a different name, In My Time of Dying) 6. Skip James - Hard Time Killing Floor Blues 7. Bessie Smith - Graveyard Dream Blues 8. Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit 9. King Oliver - St. James Infirmary Blues 10.Blind Willie McTell - Death Cell Blues 11.Julius Daniels - 99 Year Blues 12.
  14. Happy Birthday, bro. Hope to run into you again sometime soon.
  15. Thanks for sharing these, guys. As someone who missed the boat on the Dead scene (largely, in my defence, because of age and geography) I love getting first hand accounts.
  16. Yup yup. Thanks for your words of wisdom over the past year or so, brother. You've definitely helped a brother out (and shown me that it's possible to "keep it real" while doing the lawyer thing, which is something I needed to be reassured of).
  17. I have for years had a hard time picturing what Hamilton would have been like with the circus in town. Any first-handers care to share a story or two?
  18. A slutty octopus with a war injury?
  19. What they said! Hope it was a happy one.
  20. You should head over to Jamhub, as that's a board with a similar perspective to this one, but with a much stronger East Coast presence. I think a lot of the peeps on there are a little bit younger, but it's worth a shot. I lived in New Brunswick for four years and found a pretty rad and thriving arts scene there, I just had to dig a little. Have fun!
  21. One of the three best shows I saw last year, hands down. I agree with AD's ? with regard to the Southern Rock, but I'm only going by what I heard that night - and wasn't on the ball for the whole show, that's for sure. I think we'll be hearing a lot from these guys in the next couple of years.
