  1. Multiple folks over at PT left early and had some really sketchy things to say about the festival - staff didn't have a clue, violent scene, etc. Granted, there are people who say that about every single festival, so it will be interesting to see what the general feedback is. Wish I could be watching the PhilZone right now.
  2. Funny, I saw you guys on the CBC this afternoon and was going to throw in a "more cowbell" reference somewhere. The performance sounded great, though! Good luck on Much.
  3. Have fun, folks! I'm bummed that I was West when the tour first went East, and I'll still be North later this month when it heads West. Haven't seen the Boss play in a while (though getting to have a few casual chats with the man over the past couple of years has tided me over well ) Kev, I'll be looking forward to your post-show report.
  4. Wow, I had no idea he was even sick. A remarkable player and - more importantly - a stand-up guy (from everything I've ever heard about him). Rest in Peace, Jeff. Gone too soon.
  5. Pfff. I read in Maxim that their new album sucks.
  6. Not quite. It's ten percent (a little bit more, actually) for the 25-34 age group. That's an absurd number, but doesn't represent the entire population of black adult males.
  7. I think they played ScotiaBank Place when they were in Ottawa, no? I do know that [Hybrid Theory] was the top-selling album of 2001 in the United States, and their mash-up with Jay-Z did pretty well, so while it's disgusting it's not necessarily surprising.
  8. I'm glad Murray's back behind the bench. It's just too bad that he can't stop pucks from there.
  9. I'll be there, but not in T.O. They're all on the bill at Sasquatch, where I will be. This post is entirely irrelevant to this thread.
  10. #338 Songs by Canadian jambands that are currently broken up (playing once a year doesn't count...) 1. j'moor - The New Shady Groove 2. Dynamite - Blue Quarter 3. Fists of Funk - P.F. Station 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12.
  11. Yeah, that's quite a ridiculous statement. I'm glad to see that you corrected yourself, though! Sierra Trading Post (dot com) is another great online spot for gear.
  12. Yeah, I have a hard time believing that it wasn't an inside job. I don't think that amateur opportunists would just happen to have the means to move that much gear if they just stumbled upon it. I've passed the list along to the few musicians I know from Winnipeg. Such a shitty deal.
  13. Just take the damn picture, Karl. They're getting restless and making me nervous.
  14. I don't know that you'd find a compression sack at Canadian Tire. Actually, I'd be quite surprised if you would. Personally, camping gear is one thing I don't mind shelling out a bit of cash for. Having the right gear can make all the difference between a miserable time and an awesome weekend. Even something as seemingly innocuous as having the sleeping mat can make a big difference in keeping you warm and dry at night. MEC's prices are entirely reasonable, IMO. Just my two cents. After working in outdoor shops for years (and camping/hiking/backpacking for even longer), I've seen a lot of good times turn sour because of cheap gear.
  15. I'd like to go back, but it's not in the cards this year as I'll be at school in Victoria in the summer. I had a blast in 2003, and was pumped to head back the next year. 2004 was a big disappointment for me though: we were camped in a really sketchy area, a buddy of mine who I had sold on the festie came with us and had a lousy time (which made me feel bad), and I had a severe allergic reaction to something I didn't know I was allergic to on Saturday afternoon, thus completely pooching the day I was most looking forward to (and the bluegrass stage, specifically). Despite a few highlights, it was a largely disappointing weekend. Everything that happened in '04 was entirely circumstantial, but it reminded me of how big a risk it can be to make the trip on a student budget. I haven't been back since, though that's mostly because it just hasn't been in the cards. I really hope to make the trip again, though. Especially since I spend most of my time living in spots that don't get many high-quality shows coming through (a trade-off I am happy to make most of the time), getting so much music in three days is a real thrill. Have fun this year, folks!
  16. I can't remember when this normally happens, as I've only been in Ottawa once or twice for the announcement in recent years. I couldn't get the official site to load, but figured folks around here would have a good idea. Also, any rumours circulating about possibilities for this year? Thanks. -Hart
  17. Happy Birthday Jay! Hope it's a good one for you and that you continue to Evolve into a nu man. Hey-OOOHHHH!
  18. Word up. Happy Birthday! You definitely add some spice to things around here.
  19. If I were in a position to go to this show I definitely would, just out of sheer appreciation of the dude's immense talent. That said, I bought his double-live "Live in America" a few years ago, and while it contains some tasty licks, I was completely underwhelmed. It sounded more like the theme music to a local cable-access talk show (not filmed in Aurora, that is), than a bomb-laden offering from a gnarly bassist.
