  1. It's probably one of the fancy new busses that instead of dropping your ticket into a box, it gets sucked into a machine. If I'm not mistaken, said machine will also accept bills and produce change (it had a picture of a $5 on the part you slide your ticket into...)
  2. I'm curious too, what's the story behind the teenager with the headphones telling you to relax (that is the gist of what I understood from your post)? Edit: just read your reply Were you giving away free bus rides (out of transfers or something)? That actually happened to me once. The guy had his hand on the thing, basically saying I don't have to pay, and I had headphones on (oh oh, this might be getting dangerous) and also tried to put my tickets in the thing. He said they were out of transfers but I didn't need (and never get) a transfer so I basically stood there all dumb until he let me put the tickets in. It wasn't until later that I realized I could have gotten a free ride. The dude driving didn't seem to care, though, I think he thought it was funny how dumb I was.
  3. I hope they care. Religion has no business in politics as far as I'm concerned. Religion this strong definitely has no business in politics and cannot be good. Do these people not also want to get rid of teaching evolution in favor of creationism (spelling?)? Something I think is kinda funny about that, though I will say my ignorance of creationism is fairly high, is that the US are dependent on oil. Is not oil a direct contravention of creationism being a fossil fuel that's very, very old (I think it's mostly from the age of the dinosaurs). Wait, then I read this: Dinosaurs and the Bible and it all became clear

    Fall Election

Good call AD, I was looking at the wrong riding when I read that the liberals won last time. Add to that the huge amount of liberal signs during the last election (provincial) and for some reason I came to that conclusion. So then I don't really have a worry as I posted above since I'm already part of an NDP riding

    Fall Election

I can't find any info on any of the other sites regarding education, and yup, birdy, I've read the PC's key issues as well as the NDP's section on their issues. I can't find the liberal one and to be honest, their site sucks compared with the nice lists the PC's and NDP's have up. I also notice things like (and this is between the PC's and NDP's as the liberal site, mentioned above, kinda sucks in this regard): and in regards to the little ones: ummmmmm, the second PC argument doesn't even make sense to me since the PC's don't do anything for parents either and put private groups ahead of public and if child care was cheaper, that would actually be funding assistance to parents in that they could afford to buy healthier food and healthier living environments for the kids instead of putting all that money into daycare... There's also the PC view on crime. Heavier punishments with more jail time (ouch to canadian tax payers for that). Hiring of many more police rather than perhaps funding social programs to prevent crime rather than punish those that commit crime. Put a whole crap load of punishments for gun crimes (good in a way) and yet, if there were less guns, there'd be less gun violence... From what I've observed, a lot of crime comes from people in dire straights who either lack the education to better themselves or come from areas filled with poverty in which crime is rampant. The bottom line is that a lot of the crime, including gun crime, is, in my humble opinion, poverty related. Might also be drug related (buddy holds up a convenient store so that he can buy his crack) but I also think that a lot of drug problems stem from poverty (drugs are a way to forget the fact that you live like poop and then become addictive). I could go on forever but I have a feeling that this post is long enough and that it needs some cutting up from others before proceeding (I learn by you guys cutting my posts up, even if I might get emotional about some things, I still learn a lot).

    Fall Election

It is for that exact reason that I have always voted liberal (actually, I liked them when I first started voting). It's a tough call I think but you're right, and yes, I've thought of it. My usual campaign at vote time is to try to persuade people to vote for liberal but now I'm not even going to do that. Also, it wouldn't be my fault singlehandedly, it would be the fault of everyone in my riding who voted for dewar. The hardest part is that I live in a liberal riding so that's actually a potential reality you've pointed out there (it will be a fight between liberal and ndp in my riding, pc's don't win here I don't think, which is nice).

    Fall Election

Sorry, perhaps I mispoke. I just constantly hear from friends who are teachers about how their classes just keep getting bigger and funding keeps getting smaller and that's all I have to go on. I have seen no proof. As for health care, well, I don't have a doctor though I probably should, I've had a hard time finding one. Steph had a super hard time finding an obstetrician (I think that's the word, doctor that does baby stuff). Probably not the PC's fault but I can't help but think that the billions of dollars spent on death (war and military that for some reason we all of a sudden needs lots more of) could have been much better spent on education and health care. One thing I have noticed is that I pay more in taxes, have had tonnes cut out of my child benefits (including the very insulting joke that is the $100/month for child care which doesn't cover shit all) and haven't really seen any living improvements. I don't mind paying more taxes but I want to see something come of it. I want to see smaller classes, less bums on the streets. Less cops and more education in order to prevent crime so that we didn't need as many cops. Sorry if there's emotion in all of that but I'm quite emotional in my dislike of the PC's. Since they've been in power my living has gone down and I haven't actually seen anything good come of it. Here's another thing. My work depends on R&D grants which have also dried up as opposed to other years. Lets talk the environment. What've the PC's done in that regard? I can't think of a thing, really, more of a backwards trek (tar sands and kyoto come to mind there). Actually, just out of curiosity, I'm joe regular dude, family income under $50,000 and a huge student loan to pay off. What have the PC's done for me? What will they do for me to make my life and supporting my family easier?

    Fall Election

Ottawa something or other. I don't vote by riding and don't pay much attention to who my MP is. I vote for who I want to govern my country and therefore look at the parties as a whole, or a single body to be voted for. In other words, even if I hated the NDP dude for my riding and the PC dude was actually cool, I'd still vote the NDP dude in because ultimately that vote is what counts nationwide and so I might be disappointed locally, I've at least got the piece of mind to say that I voted for the party I wanted to run my country. In other even shorter words: I vote for the party, not the MP. PS: I just figured out that my riding is ottawa center and I think the dude I'm voting for is Paul Dewar

    Fall Election

I'd love to vote green. I really like what they stand for. I also really, really want the PC's out of office and voting green isn't going to accomplish that, it will just take one more vote away from a party that could oust them (since anyone contemplating voting green would never vote PC). Now, once they've been beaten and I don't have to worry as much for my family's welfare, then I can vote green and feel good about it. That's the way I see it. It will really be a race between liberals and PC's, almost always is but just think. If enough people voted NDP then it could potentially even be a minority Liberal/NDP government. The next step from there is Green for me but the absolute most important thing for canada (at least for the 80% or more that aren't rich) is to get the PC's as far away from office as possible.

    Fall Election

Same here. It costs way too much to have an election so it always irked me when one was called early. Every 3 times an election is called early equals roughly an extra election and we have better things to spend money on. Now, that said, what do you guys think the outcome will be? I'll be voting NDP this year. My family is in the low income bracket since Steph stays home to take care of Trey and my income isn't exactly huge but now that Trey's around I think of things like education and health care which, in the eyes of the PC's, aren't exactly all that important so I can't vote for them (actually, I disagree with almost everything PC and would never vote for them). Liberals, not sure what they're up to these days or if they're any better than the PC's (though I think they are, I'm not entirely sure if I really like them anymore for some reason that I can't entirely explain). Green party would be great but since I don't think they stand a chance I'll vote NDP. And... Now that's the sort of thing I like to see and there's lots more on their website. Same with environmental concerns. Can they pull it all off? Who knows. My only worry is that the big businesses will leave us without jobs if it gets too costly here but that is outweighed by my feelings that we really need to stop fucking around with the environment.
  11. whoa, is this what I think it is? A portion of the light dedicated to those who wish not to pollute or to get some exercise? I love it. I don't like most drivers, being a pedestrian 90% of the time and even when I do get to cross the road I am still often fighting the cars that are turning (and therefore crossing my path), who also often honk their horns at me (though this usually only happens when the weather is absolutely terrible, it's pure hell to be walking and the person honking the horn is in their car all warm and comfortable with good music going and with the knowledge that they will be at their destination soon and won't have to get absolutely soaked or freezing cold on the way...). It's an especially great thing for baby carriers/pushers. One thing many people have a very, very bad habbit of doing is to turn their wheels when entering an intersection and preparing to turn left. The reason it's bad is that if someone rear ends them hard, with wheels turned they will either head straight into oncoming traffic or will hit the pedestrians trying to cross the street (like mom's with baby strollers and such). Wheels straight and you get hit, you simply head to the other end of intersection without entering incoming traffic or endangering the lives of others. This intersection thing solves that because no car can enter the intersection. Woo hooo!!!
  12. Seems pretty cool to me. I grew up on video games like final fantasy so I've always wanted to get my hands on some dark matter Think of the positive possibilities though. What if they create some new atom or particle that solves the energy crisis and allows us to create renewable clean energy. Then again, you could look on the dark side in that they might inadvertently open up a portal to another dimension ruled by evil demons that would like nothing more than to escape into our world and wreak havoc on us all... Sounds like a pretty cool movie to me
  13. LOL I mean of course. I had to stop reading those comments, they're just dumb to put it blandly. They complain about this but then I didn't read a single post saying anything about nukes and how they have the potential to destroy us all, why not bitch about those. aaaaaaaaaaa, I've been drawn in...

you guys talking about the new one I've seen previews for? Anyone watched it yet? Is it as cheesy as the last one? 30 year old high school kids?
  15. firefox 3 has never crashed on me to my knowledge. If one is having memory woes then unfortunately it's not the software's problem, it's the ancient technology said person is running that is the problem. Newer sites and newer applications require more and more memory. In other words, upgrade your ram. Don't dare bitch and complain either, it's not even expensive to upgrade anymore and if it is because the pc you're running is too old, get a new one, it's not even expensive to do that. Talk dirty about firefox will ya? That'll learn ya!!!
  16. I don't much like that. Like some guy said in a message at the bottom of the article, does this mean that if you send a picture or private info via email and then check that on the web using chrome, you've given permission for google to display that? Not good, not good. Well, the first wheel was metal or wood or something like that. After a while they decided to reinvent it using rubber which proved to be much better traction and safety wise.
  17. I submitted a bug report about it. Don't uninstall, submit bug report, it'll get fixed. I've been playing and it's kinda neat. The start page is alright but I wish there was a way to erase something on there or replace it with another page so that you could setup the ones you want there. I'll keep playing with it. It's got some new features that I actually really like. Steph and I use the same computer and for some sites like facebook, we both have our passwords saved. Not only was it able to import the saved passwords, unlike firefox you just have to start typing the username in the box and it will automatically autofill (rather than a drop-down where you can choose, it will autofill the username and switch passwords).
  18. Downloaded and writing this post using it. So far it looks nice but there's an immediate problem: The track pad on my laptop doesn't work all that well regarding scrolling. You can scroll down but not up (using the side of the pad, most laptops you can slide your finger up and down to scroll up and down). Other than that it seems to me to be a different version of firefox basically. We shall see.
  19. I'm thinking the same thing. I had a run-in with a ninja on a four-wheeler. I went into the bush for a little pee which happened to be the same rough area where you could trek through with your alcohol (up the hill in the bush from the chuck side gate). I was pretty sober at the time and went up to my usual tree to find some guy sitting there on his four wheeler in the dark, you could barely see him. He was the dude preventing people from sneaking through the forest (worked saturday night but they figured it out and put that and other dudes there sunday night). Well, I get up to my tree and notice he's there so I say "hey, mind if I borrow your tree for a minute?" I have never felt so much hostility from a person as this dude who answers with a very mean, very rude "get the fuck away from me now!!". Sometimes I just don't like the security guards. I was no threat to him, wasn't even fucked up, just had to pee and he was sitting in what many men had turned into a washroom. Stupid ninja's. I just remembered, they also tore apart my bags on the way into the campground the first day. Even the baby bag filled with baby shit the guy took most of it out looking for drugs I guess. On the other hand, having trey we were often able to just walk right past security while they searched other people and that was nice.
  20. as far as I know they've always had security at the gates to the stage and town but before it was really easy to sneak stuff in, just put it in your pockets, they never really checked. This time they padded everyone down and searched bags and shit which kinda sucked. Some people had a theory that it was the beer company that insisted on it since they don't make any money if everyone sneaks their own stuff in.
  21. great fun, great fun lots of great music from moe. and friends. Levon looked like he was getting old but still kicking it. YMSB was awesome. I've never really listened to them before and they rocked. One fun thing was the kids tent. They had a talent show where the kids could go up on stage and do some act. The first one was a band calling themselves the Pickles and it was Al, his wife Diane and I believe his two kids. Rob was in attendance and his little guy also put on a little show. Very cute. The little girl that was playing in the pickles just loved Trey and hung out with him the whole time. If it was al's daughter then she's doing very good with the autism thing, very aware compared to some I've seen. Then again, could have been his niece or some such. Either way, great fun in the kidzone if any of you are thinking about moe.downing it with some kids, hit it up. Security sucked balls this time. It was really hard to sneak liquor into the actual stage grounds. Very busy too. The chuck side quiet area is no longer quiet. Nitrous all over the place there and it was packed all the way to the end of the campground. One person died over the weekend, though, which kinda sucks. Probably OD though it's not official yet. alright, that's all for now. Caught a cold and must recoup.
  22. Trey definitely wants to hear mexico live (yeah, it's not called mexico but it is to me). I forgot about mexico. wooooo hoooooooo. One more hour and 4 day weekend filled with moe. and friends goodness, can't wait.
  23. Thank you. That brought me back. Grade five, innocently into the guns n roses and the motley crue to name a few and I'll never forget those lyrics, hehehehe.
  24. I don't think trey really cares, he'll be dancing to anything providing he's awake. Unfortunately his stamina isn't that of a drunken adult and he can't last all that long so he'll probably sleep through the late sets but so far he's danced to all the moe. that's come on sirius. I just downloaded this for him: Kid's tent Al accoustic show but haven't had a chance to play it for him yet. He was grooving really good to the dead the other day, seemed to like that and he's liked phish pretty much since birth (made him calm down when he was smaller and now makes him dance). Edit: if he's anything like me (and he should be since he's part me) then he'll definitely want to be there for seat of my pants at the end when they go crazy
  25. they'll play captain america for sure I think because it's the theme for this years kids dress up (last year was buster and the parade was for buster so it is likely that there will be a parade of kids for captain america). Meat Seat of My Pants (nothing like the strobes at the end of that, whole stage lit up, woo hoo!!) Kyle's Song To be honest, it doesn't matter to me, I want to hear moe. and anything they decide to play is fine by me.
