  1. Yeah true. But then that would mean a show on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for 420... Don't know if I can justify a week run in April... too much work to do. Oh if only all of life's biggest challenges involved having too much good music to choose from... woah is me.
  2. Yup, same night as Umphrey's in Toronto. Dammit. Choices, choices. I haven't seen either of them live.
  3. I don't know... Ignorance is bliss... on the other hand death is a pretty heavy hand to be dealt as well.

    newb?

Welcome aboard Sam! Time well wasted.
  5. Unfortunately I won't be able to make this one. Already have plans with the folks for a night out... Sounds like it will be a blast!
  6. Good morning, If you're hitting up Niagara Falls anyways, it might be worth checking out the Butterfly Conservatory while you are there. Pretty cool place. Also, I'd second Zero's suggestion for Hugh's Room in Toronto. In fact, Todd and I will be there this weekend with my parents. David Francey is playing there on both Friday and Saturday night. He is basically a folk singer. Good luck!
  7. Count me in. Hoping to be bringing my sister and some of her friends out as well. I know a few of them are really keen on supporting the notion of bringing more reggae music to Hamilton.

    Go! Festival

Got a chance to listen to Tiiu's disc that the lovely ms. evans passed along to me. She definitely has a beautiful voice.
  9. Yeah, I had a fun night too! Thanks to Tonin and Ricky for the pre-show hospitality. It was nice to have a little down-time chit chat before the show. Always a pleasure to see livingstoned, Schwa, Sheebs, Prost, a few of the Jomomma boys, etc. Decent crowd for a Thursday night I thought. Everyone seemed into it. Those that were there, were by and large on their feet and dancing. I think there was quite a few new tunes played last night? Am I wrong? There was atleast a couple that I was unfamiliar with. Sounded great! I was sorry that I had to deak out a little early, but I had a bit of a drive ahead of me, and work to do today. The whole band was great, but I was particularly reminded once again how smokin Jeff is on those keys!! Damn.
  10. So thrilled to hear this show has been announced!! Very excited for this year's 420 shakedown. I had a hard time keeping my lips sealed on this one Bri!! Thanks for once again making us all happy, healthy & high!! I know Todd is pretty pumped about the opportunity of opening for these guys!
  11. I do believe Slowcoaster is playing on the 17th in Hamilton at the Casbah (along with Fat Cats & The Achievers)... Therefore, I assume this CD release is the Friday?
  12. Welcome to the Hammer Mango!
  13. Woops. I guess I mean... Theme: The last song you sang/whistled/hummed in the shower 1. Louis Armstrong - Hello Brother 2. Les Miserables - Castle on a Cloud 3. David Bowie - Rebel Rebel 4. Richard Thompson - Little Blue Number 5. Bob Marley - Roots Rock Reggae 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12.
  14. I guess those who don't wash, may have some trouble participating in this thread. Yesterday's shower was Roots Rock Reggae (due to the previous alliteration themed album)
  15. Well, I thought it might be a little early to post this, but it looks like there's a couple St. Patties threads on the go, so what the hell? It's that time of year again. A grand excuse for debauchery!! Sat. March 17th at the Casbah: Fat Cats with Special Guests Slowcoaster The Achievers Should be a great night of music. Looking forward to getting the chance to check out your new band there too Rev! Who's in?
  16. I still think we are "entitled" to a Hamilton show before there is any more talk about this being your last show. On a more serious note, I am sad to hear that this may be your last...
  17. By the way, I would put the same argument forward for deadbeat moms.
  18. Yeah, this is a touchy issue for sure... Somehow I doubt that the children would benefit from knowing or hearing about what a loser their father is and having it broadcasted over the net. Even if it is the truth, a child does not need that rammed down their throats. Children have a way of feeling guilty, inadequate, rejected, etc. for the actions/behaviours of their parents. I can't see this helping their well-being at all. Sometimes a mother's anger, vengeance, frustration, etc (even if well founded) has to come second (imo).
  19. This is already turning into quite the ecclectic mix...
  20. Next theme? Songs from albums that you remember from your childhood that you still listen to today. 1. Travelling Wilburys - Tweeter & the Monkey Man
  21. Songs That Reference Other Song Titles 1. The Pogues/Trad. - And The Band Played 'Waltzing Matilda' (referring to, duh. "Waltzing Matilda") 2. Frank Zappa - The Return Of The Son Of Shut Up 'n' Play Yer Guitar (referring to "Shut Up 'n' Play Yer Guitar") 3. Joel Plaskett - True Patriot Love (referencing O Canada, and the Star Spangled Banner albeit indirectly.) 4. lynyrd skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama ("A Southern Man don't need him around anyhow," 5. Frank Zappa - No Matter What You Do (Tchaikovsky's 6th) 6. Tom Petty - Runnin' Down a Dream (Runaway by Del Shannon) 7. Moxy Fruvous - The Drinking Song (Goodnight Irene) 8. Pet Shop Boys - I Want To Wake Up (Tainted Love & Love is Strange) 9.Alan Jackson-Midnight In Montgomery(I'm so Lonesome I could cry- Hank Willams) 10. Beatles - Glass Onion (Strawberry Fields, I am the Walrus, Fool on the Hill, Lady Madonna) 11. CCR - Fortunate son (hail to the chief) 12. Joni Mitchell - Chinese Cafe (Unchained Melody)
