  7. From now on, in order to keep using our free live concerts, we have to play it loud enough for neighbours to hear, and shout out the name of the band between songs.
  8. http://www.waterkeeper.ca/content/drink/ondaatje_cockburn_to_headline.php World-famous writer Michael Ondaatje will join Canadian folk-rock artist Bruce Cockburn at a June benefit concert to raise money for jailed Algonquin uranium mine protester Bob Lovelace. A recipient of the Order of Canada and the illustrious Booker Prize, Ondaatje is perhaps best known as the author of The English Patient. He, Cockburn and several other artists will perform at the Artists for Bob concert at Sydenham Street United Church, 82 Sydenham St., on June 14 at 7 p.m. The other artists who have agreed to appear include Susan Aglukark, David Francey, Jenny Whiteley, Steven Heighton, Joey Wright, Terry Tufts, Unity and the Algonquin Drummers. Lovelace, a retired chief of the Ardoch Algonquin First Nation and a Queen's University lecturer, has been imprisoned for blocking prospector access to a proposed uranium mine site in North Frontenac. All funds raised through the concert will go to Lovelace through a trust fund. Unreserved seating costs $30 while limited Free Bob Lovelace Supporter tickets cost $100. They include preferred seating, an Artists For The Algonquin compilation CD, and a pass to the artist after-show party. Tickets are available at Brian's Record Option, Novel Idea, Tara Natural Foods and The Grand Theatre box office, located inside City Hall. Tickets can also be ordered by phoning 613-530-2050 or online at www.grandtheatre-kingston.com.
  9. We're on bullfrog. I don't think we pay a tonne more, but we switched over and did a lot around the house at the same time, so I think it balanced itself out. I sure feel better about my consumption with all the driving I do these days.
  10. Only if you first acknowledge that I am the best real estate agent on the planet. Then I'd be glad to hear all about him
  11. I can't listen to it ... his voice just makes me uneasy. I listened to Dirt Farmer twice in replacement.
  12. I have clients moving to Kingston this summer, but they need to sell their house in Cambridge. They don't have a real estate agent - do any of you know someone I can refer them to? Skanks a lot (boooo)
  13. I need to get tix to this soon ... though I'm sad about the lack of Scofield/Joan.
  14. "she'll be comin round the mountain when she comes"
  15. fishbone is pretty sweet to a lot of folks ... very underground 80s LA underground/eventually had a decent record deal. Not too far off from early Chilis
  16. I've seen Fred about 5 times ... very entertaining, though I'm really not a fan of his current drummer (who also sells merch and is also fred's gf)
  17. Someone should buy all of these houses as well - http://chris-morris.ca/residential.html - hah
  18. I like "The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie" - because I don't think they were known as Flo & Eddie until after The Turtles!
  19. I think debating about lesbians is a healthy, enlightening, and vital activity.
  20. My first and only bluesfest/lawnchairfest experience was for James Brown in 2000 or 2001. The Godfather! People were sitting in lawnchairs for Soul Brother #1! Egad ... I joined the facebook group. I'm all for the ban.
  21. WOWOWOWOW! What a great show ... I'm guessing we had a similar setlist ... he played a bit of Won't Get Fooled Again in the middle of Maggie's Farm which was pretty rad. There was also a song I'm guessing called 3:10 To Yuma that was great, I haven't seen the movie so I don't know if it's in it. Both accompanying musicians were incredible. Richie broke two strings, the second during Freedom, which gave us "sometimes I feel like a fffffff" which is pretty humourous.
  22. Good shit ... it's tonight for me! whoo! I haven't been this excited about a concert in a looooong time.
