  1. It may be sold by now (looks like it was put up for sale in Sept). But it looks pretty cool..... http://www.zillow.com/blog/jerry-garcias-former-home-for-sale/2010/09/17/
  2. Hugh Dillon is an awesome actor.......but I think his music is just as good. Marky Mark Walberg is a great actor........music - meh!
  3. I love the comments from this clip.........especially, "I feel sad for the guitar"
  4. Basher - I'm so so sorry to hear this! My thoughts are with you and we are sending you all our love! We have really only spent one long weekend together at Gratefulfest. I think of that weekend fondly and all the smiles you both helped bring to our faces......and I think about Julia and I sat with tear-filled eyes, talking and laughing about our fathers (whom we lost too soon)........the words "too soon" don't begin to do this situation justice. RIP Patchoulia.
  5. and Robert Hunter I don't know if this has been posted here yet but I was doing some browsing on the internet a week or so ago and found this. I ordered but haven't got it yet......looking fwd to it! For those of you wondering who Jesse McReynolds is, he's an old school bluegrasser who was 1/2 of the group Jim and Jesse McReynolds.....and was one of Garcia's major bluegrass influences. I listened to Black Muddy River......sounds great! The last tune on the record is one that Jesse co-wrote with Hunter. Here's the tracklist; 01. Black Muddy River 02. Ripple 03. The Wheel 04. Bird Song 05. Franklin’s Tower 06. Standing on the Moon 07. Loser 08. Fire on the Mountain 09. Stella Blue 10. Deep Elem Blues 11. Deal 12. Alabama Getaway 13. Day By Day more info here: http://www.dead.net/features/news/jesse-mcreynolds-bluegrass-great-records-songs-hunter-and-garcia
  6. I saw Dylan at Maple Leaf Gardens in 98 or so. Guy behind me told me to sit down - I asked him if he knew he was at a concert. No more said......but still enough to have that energy exchange linger in my mind and take away from the overall enjoyment of the show. So I stood my ground until set break than found some space side-stage at break where I could do as I please. Around the same time, I got front row tix to ABB at the Amphitheatre. Full boogie mode and the people behind us want us to sit down. Ignored them - didn't bother me this time.....way to happy to care! THey complained to security who told them we were in the front row and were allowed to enjoy our show however we wanted.....ha ha!
  7. I heard "This Wheel's on Fire" this morning on CBC. It was AWESOMELY dirty! Neil did it more than justice - you could feel the intensity oozing out of the song. And the Sadies kicked ass backing Neil. AMAZING!!!
  8. would like to go.......but we'll see!?!? DD on Friday is a real nice inticer, then the Stagger Lees would be a treat to start Sat off - a band that consists of a couple kids from the Good family and Mark Schnurr sitting in on mandolin. Then the Fatties Sat night......oh man I should be responsible.....but I don't really get along with that word.....we'll see. Man - the beard was unhappy about a 1:30 timeslot a couple weeks ago......what's going to happen with a 12:30 start time - is Floyd going to be around to help old David Wilcox onto the stage!?!? and don't stand near the stage or you might get puked on! Edger - you might want to make sure Todd sits next to him - he probably deserves a good puking on......or just wear an apron and goggles.
  9. The E-bike story reminded me of a story from high school. I was driving home from school - on the main drag, downtown chatham. I came to a stop, then a second later hear a thump behind me and feel my car shake a little. I look in my rearview and see this guy semi-plastered onto my back window and sliding down. He'd hit the back of my car with his bicycle and gone over the handlebars onto my back window. He gathers himself off my car, shakes his head, looks around and says, "Whoa". Picked up his bike and rode off.
  10. BTW - love the name Fuckoffy the dog!
  11. It's McGruff - have respect people!
  12. Also forgot to mention that Marco, Kim and Cypress were there along with Martin, Cathy (?) and their kids
  13. Diesel Dog at the Ledges would be sweeeeeeeettt!!! Yeah, Diesel at the Ledges would be super sweet - I really hope it works out for them! The promoters, Chris and Matt, run a company called MadMatt's Promotions. Super nice guys. Kind of seemed like fate was playing a hand. Out of all the thousands of people at the fest - we end up camping beside each other. And yeah Mark, securing those interviews for my documentary was amazing! Big big thanks to bouche for his help in all this! Tonin and Edger - great to hear that All Good was All Awesome! Edger - would be great to meet up with you guys when you're up this way!
  14. Happy Day Marky-Mark - hope it's treating you great!
  15. Forgot to mention Craig and Sari - who can ride the fuck out of a parallelogram.....into the suggestivesphere!
  16. They played it for the first time during their "soundcheck" set at the Ledges. It was good. The line "Run Mary run with your teddy bear and your gun" definitely stuck out!
  17. For me, it was great......but definitely different for me this year. First off being without Mud and Sierrah for the first time took a couple days to get used to.....though I did enjoy getting up at 6am and realizing I could go back to sleep! I was in work mode so that was different too. I covered the fest for this site (which bouche is going to put up once he does the site changeover) and was also working on my 'Old & in the Jerrygrass' documentary which went really well. Peter Rowan and David Nelson agreed to interviews for it as well as interviewing Dave Katz (Ekoostik Hookah) and Tyler Grant (bass in the Emmitt Nershi Band who was the 2008 national flatpicking champ and played in a Dead cover band for 6 years). There was a great group of folk again. Mousepad, Schwa, Schwa's brother Brian and his girlfriend Alison, LXQ42, Krazy Korey, Nicole, Rob, Jason, the Swifts and the Sutherlands, Baj and Capt Sunshine. Had some young energy around our campfire the first night which was really weird but that settled in the following nights. Had some really nice jams around the fire too. Had the lead singer from the Zepplin tribute band, Kashmir, at our site. They had just headlined a classic rock fest at the Ledges two weeks prior - they're out of New Jersey. Check 'em out if you can - they're really good....and buddy looked just like Robert Plant!Really really friendly guy - was surprised how much he didn't fit into the stereotype I'd cast him into prior to getting to know him (yeah, shame shame on me). Also had a couple of promoters from Ohio (who book bands at the Ledges and other fests) at our site who seem to have taken an interest in Diesel Dog and it looks like Diesel might be at the Ledges next summer! I won't take too much away from my review but I did interview Peter Rowan for the review and asked him what came to mind when he thought of Jerry. Here's what he had to say; “When I think of Jerry Garcia I think of his sense of encouragement. He was a very encouraging person. You never felt like you were doing something stupid musically. He would always want to bring it up to a level of confidence. His enthusiasm and confidence made everything blossom.†He added, “Jerry was just a totally friendly guy. You know, kind of mischievous. Always a mischievous grin. His eyebrows always going up and down, you know. He talked a lot with his eyebrows! (laughs)†What sucked was somebody making off with my running shoes at the festival, me coming home and buying a new pair and then having them stolen from my car and having to go back and buy another pair....arrgh! How was All Good?
  18. ha ha! That's just what I was going to say.

Yeah, that was a great festival - great folks!! great jams!! That was one of the coolest things I'd heard of when that lady wanted Rusty to play her late husband's guitar on Sat night! What an honour. Now that's an onion moment! The mandolin player who joined the jam on Sat night from Nothin' Fancy was seriously smokin'!! wow! Funny - one of the old-timers said he loved our jams cause he had never heard any of the songs before. On the other hand you get a taste of a true old-schooler when you hear; doesn't want to hear anything but John Henry or Red-Haired Boy or Little Maggie or Bury me Beneath the Willow (you get my point) and wants it played the same way every time - whether it's Del McCoury Band playing it or the Shit River Band. Anyways, awesome time had - be back for sure next year!
  20. Yup, I saw Dead Man's Hat last summer and was REALLY REALLY impressed!! I really loved the original tunes. Do you guys have any recorded yet DEM? If so, can you bring them on the June 5th weekend?
  21. I thought the same thing when I saw him a couple of years ago at Magfest. He only actually played the guitar for maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the show. The rest of the time he seemed content watching his band play. Glad to hear DD was off the charts again - pretty much what you can expect from them!
  22. And FWIW - I went to that show with Schwa in Meaford (it was a solo show). Aside from his Bailin' album, it's the only time I've heard his music......and I thought it was really good. Possibly more jokes than songs but at least he was funny.
  23. I heard he puked in his mouth on stage once then spit it out while no one was looking.......errrr..........I mean.......... I heard a similar story from a friend up here in Wiarton. Said one of his friends said Fred yelled at the audience for not paying enough attention.........might have been the same show.....but I suspect if it's happened once, it's happened more than a few times....... For the record, I don't believe Ike has any credible sources...........
  24. hey folks - sorry, I'm just getting back around to this now. Thanks for the advice! All of it's appreciated Livingstoned - it's basic life insurance I'm going for.
  25. Do i have to stop smoking? (not cigarettes). And if so, for how long? what else are they checking for?
