  1. The suspense of this is killing me. Here's hoping. I'm masturbating furiously to get my hand and finger reflexes in top form
  2. Long purple japanese eggplants, pricked a few times and grilled on low to medium heat for a long time until they're mushy. Peel back the skins and scoop them out, or halve them lengthwise and top with whatever you want. I usually ado about 6 at a time, scoop out all the mush and mix raw minced garlic, cilantro and chiles to make a spicy dip that's great with toasted pita. Grilled eggplant left in its skin is one of my favorites.
  3. Mine usually involves leftovers put between bread. Lasagna sandwich, chili sandwich..I also grab the ja of salsa verde and douse something with it..bread, a cracker, anything. The brand name is Herdez and it's decent. I always chase my late night snacks with a few spoons of plain yogurt because my theory is that that prevents hangovers and sour stomach. Though at the time it tastes worse than buckley's
  4. I haven't figured out why I should buy tracks on iTunes instead of downloading the same thing for free. It's not that I don't want to but what about buying it is better than not paying for it? Don't say legality, that is a hzay construct with not much importance to me personally.
  5. Shitty buzz. Well maybe they'll release mroe a little later?
  6. SO, um, Toronto tickets...the link to buying them is where? I didn't see it on his site.
  7. I guess only one of you stoners read the Snopes link eh. If you put this much brain power into actually driving less you'd do more good.
  8. I have noticed an interesting trend among my Latino friends. It seems many of them brush their teeth 3 times a day, whereas most of us don't brush after lunch. This "survey" includes Hondurans, Puerto Ricans and Ecuadoreans. And I was wondering why it is that they have such great dental hygiene?
  9. Sorry. Registered volunteers have an email that says July 3rd but if you're not registered yet then you're info is correct. Forgiveness...please
  10. That might be last year's info. This year's orientation is in the park by the War Museum. Given the July 4th start of Bluesfest the orientation is happening Tuesday, July 3rd at 6:30pm
  11. I'm not a big fajita fan because it's just too messy and hard to eat. I like the ine big wrap, well sealed and grilled on the bbq and then cut in half. My all-time favorite wrap is marinated jerk tofu, barbecued and rolled up with monterey jack, mango salsa and something crunchy like cabbage or sprouts. I am also a big breakfast burrito fan and will usually do eggs, salsa verde, a mix of vegetables and sometimes cheese. and with more salsa verde on the side. You can use cold leftover curry and a layer of sour cream or cream cheese in a wrap. Then slice it on a bias and serve it at a party as an app. I also grew up with wraps and am only recently re-discovering their usefulness.
  12. FUnny this thread came up as I just got one this weekend after fighting the urge for al ong long time. I've had them for short periods in the past but this is the first one I've bought for personal use. What made its usefulness apparent was having car trouble on the 401 and not being sure if I'd be able to get off the highway in time. That, and being in the same city as Katie and doing separate things but not being able to reach each other should something happen.
  13. So one more time: a free WYSIWYG HTML editor is what I'm looking for. Not Notepad and not Dreamweaver.

    Multigrain Bread

Sorry, I should've said The French Baker, which is here
  15. That's what I'm getting at, yes. I have some coding experience but I use something like this to develop email bulletins and a few content pages for our site.
  16. I've been Nvu for quite some time, and it's easy to use having been based I think on Mozilla's editor. But it adds alot of wierd code and span style junk that I end up having to fix. It doesn't handle font formatting particularly well either. Can anyone recommend a similiar frontpage or mozilla-style editor that is better at keeping code clean?
  17. Man I want to totally nerd out and turn this thread into a Monty Python recitation thread. [No, this is not from memory] ARTHUR: Well, I am king! DENNIS: Oh king, eh, very nice. And how d'you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers! By 'anging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society. If there's ever going to be any progress with the-- WOMAN: I didn't know we had a king. I thought we were an autonomous collective. DENNIS: You're fooling yourself. We're living in a dictatorship. A self-perpetuating autocracy in which the working classes-- DENNIS: I told you. We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week. But all the decision of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting-- By a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs,-- But by a two-thirds majority in the case of more major-- WOMAN: Well, how did you become king then? ARTHUR: The Lady of the Lake,... [angels sing] ...her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water signifying by Divine Providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. [singing stops] That is why I am your king! DENNIS: Listen, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. ARTHUR: Be quiet! DENNIS: Well, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you! ARTHUR: Shut up! DENNIS: I mean, if I went 'round saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away! ARTHUR: Shut up, will you. Shut up! DENNIS: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system. ARTHUR: Shut up! DENNIS: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help! I'm being repressed! ARTHUR: Bloody peasant! DENNIS: Oh, what a give-away. Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That's what I'm on about. Did you see him repressing me? You saw it, didn't you?

    Multigrain Bread

Seeing that other topic about bread reminded me to tell you that the best multigrain bread ever...I mean orgasmic multigrain..is available in Ottawa from the Boulangerie in the market. It's called "Good Earth" and it tastes nothing like wild Oat's bread (too dense), Trillium (too bland) or any other bakery that I've found. Really you should try it. I don't know what the secret is but is the first bread I've ever enjoyed plain and toasted.
  19. Bjork is super. We rented a DVD of all of her music videos and it was also super.
  20. Me too. and if I knew how to post youtube videos I would do so...top ten in my list of python sketches
  21. it's tough going - the photo crediting, the intellectual property rights and so on. I had a friend/professional photographer offer to donate 70 of his images to my workplace ( a charity) and you would'nt believe the amount of documentation and papermaking required by CRA. Interstingly they ask you to determine a mutually agreed-upon "fair market value" for each image but since art's value is highly subjective and there is no going rate, that can lead to artist and recipient bickering about this value...the higher it is, the higher his/her tax credit. Of course CRA also says that the charity should purchase the art in full, and the artist donates the sum back but that hurts the artist becuase it's declared as revenue. Sheesh! As for the Grisman thing I see his point but would probably opt towards restricting the availability of content rather than suing for damages. Isn't it mysterious that the Grateful Dead Family, pioneers of free music collection and dssemination, have become so litigious in their old age? Bobby, Mickey, now David Grisman I mean who's going to sue next?
  22. Great great movie in every respect.
