    BEER!!

There are some damn fine Winter brews featured at the LCBO right now. Sammy Smith's Winer Celebration Ale is pretty tasty. I'm sipping on a an Innis and Gund limited Edition IPA right now. Quite nice. My favourte that I have tried over the past couple weeks is Fuller's 2007 Vintage Ale. Trafalgar Breweries has a nice Oatmeal stout available as well.
  3. Happy Birthday Dave! I'll raise a few in your honour tonight and then a few more in a couple of weeks at Nero!
  4. I'm not sure if it would seperate when frozen and thawed. It's refridgerating well. I just had a bowl for lunch and it's even better the second day.
  5. I used chicken stock. But you could easily use vegy or fish stock, if you had it on hand. I'm not sure exactly how many serving it would make- I'm guessing 8+ med sized servings. Most of the measurements were just estimated.
  6. I made this last night and it was yummy! Start by frying up some diced onion, celery, fenel, garlic- any root veg and some salt and pepper. Add some frozen corn(1/2 cup?) and some crumbled smoked salmon (the bbq fillets- not the frozen smoked sides). I threw in some fresh thyme, a little white wine and about 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper-add more if you like some heat. Let the flavours stew for a few minutes. Add some Caarnation evaporated milk (1 can) and about 750ml stock and simmer. It took about 30 minutes, start to finish! Serve with some crusty bread.
  7. I used to live in Hintonburg and it was pretty sketch. 40 Main was a step up, as far as neighbourhoods go. I like Westborough. My brother and his family live there and it's pretty safe and just a little bit funky.
  8. Hey Mikey- What did you braise them in? One of my clients is a pub and they do a guiness braised lamb shank with roasted root veg mash. It's pretty yummy- and it is a big money maker for them. Lamb shanks (frozen) are pretty cheap!
  9. After checking the myspace page, I don't actually know these guys. The band I'm checking out is playing later. They are from the Hamilton area, but I'm not sure of their name.
  10. I'm going to this as well. My wife works with the singer. See you there!
  11. Costco had some really low prices on Mybook 500g before Christmas.
  12. I just got my tix! See you there!
  13. Hey MOBE- I always enjoy your contributions around these parts. Do you have a set recipe for stock? I usually just throw in a bunch of root veg and herbs with the bones, cover with water and let'er go for a day or so. I often here of folks who brown the bones first and other interesting variations. What do the pros do? Also- on a side note- I bought a whole beef tenderloin from work today. It has no info other then AAA- I suspect it might be "refreshed" (previously frozen). What's your opinion on re-freezing some steaks? I might just roast the whole thing on New Years. Any opinions, ideas etc. would be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Man, I wish I could be there for this one. Happy Birthday Velvet! I look forward to seeing you at Nero next month. Ottawa crew- be sure to treat your elders with respect! Booche- you should just be nice to him anyway.
  15. I posted the details on the WTB/WTS forum but that doesn't get looked at much. I'm selling a 98 Honda civic si. Let me know if anyone is interested.
  16. Hells Yeah! Happy B-day to one of my favourite people! Have a good one!
  17. I like trying to slide the phrase "we are in agreeance" into a conversation.
  18. Thanks again everyone! Yes Myrna, I did live at Graham's cottage for a summer 10 years ago! I think I slept on your floor one drunken evening after a Nero show in Kinston.

  20. I'm not sure how to show the photos here but hopefully this link works. These photos were taken by my sister. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=77711&l=0a069&id=746140297
  21. Hi everyone! We just returned from a pretty amazing week in the Domincan Rep where we celebrated our wedding with 60 of our closest friends and family! It was pretty amazing and Erin and I are very happy. It was the most chill way to get married. I'll add some photos when I figure out how to post them on here. It kind of suck returning to a major storm and a broken furnace. I really wish I was still there. Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes. Can't wait to go to work tomorrow!
  22. Thanks for the kind wishes! We are pretty excited about starting this next chapter in our lives. I'll be sure to post a photo or two when we get back.
  23. Man...this was the show that turned me on to Phish in a big way. Every time one of my friends would ask me why I would spend all this time and money seeing shows, I would usually play 2nd set of this show as a response.
