    Eating alone.

No, only when I dine out alone.
  2. I love this time of year! Only two days untill my work productivity drops to zero! March Madness is a great time to be a sports fan. Who are your picks? I'm surprised none of the regulars on this board have a pool!
  3. Toronto has the worst crowd! It's all corporate seats- so very few "true fans" can either afford to come or get tickets if they can afford it. During the playoffs- when Toronto actually makes it, the city is electric. Every pub is packed, people get pumped for play-off hockey. It's a shame that the team just can't put it together to actually make the play-offs.

    Eating alone.

On a related note- I really enjoy cooking for myself and dining alone. My wife does not like everything I enjoy, so it's fun to indulge myself every now and then. For example, when the wife is away, I open a bottle of red (she drinks white only), crank some tunes and spend a couple hours preparing lamb. Eating the meal is truly only half the fun. When I used to work nights at a restaurant I enjoyed dining out alone. I would usually treat myself and enjoy a real nice meal at around 2pm at least once a week. Reading a book on a bistro patio on a nice spring afternoon is a sweet indulgance.

    Proscuitto

I had the meat sweats when I got home last night. I have never been more thirsty! That was one of the tastier parties I've been to. All hail the swine!
  6. Mustard! I hate regular mustard, although I love pretty much every other variations. I've had many a drive through burger ruined by adding mustard even though I had asked for the burger sans-offensive ingredient. "They fuck you at the Drive-Thru!" I used to not like green peppers, but I have pretty much forced myself to like them. I still have the urge to pick them off pizza, but I remind myself that I like them now. They are actually a pretty tasty ingredient. I had to "learn" to like a few varieties of fish. I'm glad I did. It really paid off as a nicely prepared fish dish is one of my favourite meals.

    Steak & BJ Day!

So, back to the matter at hand- Anyone have any good recipes for ribeyes?

    Steak & BJ Day!

Daveyboy- I'm a married man now, besides, Fluffhead is all teeth. Any excuse for a bj is a good one, but now that I am married I appreciate setting a day aside where a man gets to reap his just rewards. Gawd, I hope Mrs Jaybone doesn't read this shit or I'll have be waiting 'till my birthday for my next bj.

    Steak & BJ Day!

I'm thinking ribeye. What will you be enjoying tonight? I feel bad for vegetarians today.

    Dining Out & Tips.

As someone who, for years, made my living on tips I always leave 15-20%, after tax- I have to keep the karma flowin'. As a foodie I am impressed when a server is knowledgable about the food they are serving, can make appropriate wine suggestions and is helpful, without being intrusive. I appreciate a server who treats the job as a profession. They deserve respect and a good tip. I often over tip at bars, mainly b/c I'm drunk. I've only not left a tip once, and the server was beyond rude.
  12. Oh yeah- on the topic at hand, my family is from Newfoundland. Jig's dinner is the tradional dish. Basically boiled potatoes, turnip, cabbage, greens (turnip tops)- all drowned in butter and served with salt meat. Breakfast included a fried dough ball called a "tautin" along with fried cod tounges. My uncle once served me seal flipper. Another uncle was an avid rabbit hunter and always made an awesome rabbit stew topped with a wicked pastry. That was good stuff.
  13. Fluff's old man is still around. I've been lucky enough to enjoy more then a few meals prepared by him. Back in the day, it was always fun to get stoned at Fluffhead's place and then raid his Dad's catering fridge! Dinghy- Brian's avatar is a photo from my wedding night. It scares me too.
  14. Thanks for tips! I tried this a few times with roast beef last summer. I basically followed the recipe from the Licence to Grill guy. It worked out well, but he made smaller foil pouches of wood chips, and did a mixture of dry and wet chips). I had to change the pouches fairly frequently, which meant I had to lift the lid, losing smoke and heat. I can't wait to get back on the grill. I haven't been using the Q much in this weather.
  15. I would also love to eat the fuck out of that! I love food that is made from the heart and steeped in tradition! Some of my favourite meals are homecooked cultural classics. I once had a roommate who was hungarian and made some crazy paprika dishes. I keep trying to order something similar in restaurants but they can't even touch his Grandma's recipes. I also had some Korean roommates who made some traditional dishes for their New Year celebrations- I just can't find anything similar when I go to Korean restaurants.
  16. Yo Dude- Check out Ms Zimmy's company. She and her husband make them. Her signature is a link to their website. It looks pretty cool. I miss my ride.
  17. I'm in and pumped. I hope it won't be exactly the same show as the ACC a few months ago. Great show, but I don't need to relive it.
  18. There are a ton along Spadina. Cheap and tasty!
  19. I have some friends who are renting apartments for that weekend. That might not be a bad option for a van load of people on a budget. I think fluffhead77 is looking in to that option.
  20. I'm going to be in NYC that same weekend for a friend's wedding. That list of attractions and prices/times will come in handy for what little down time we have to explore the city. Thanks Debob!
  21. Lindsay Lohan- she got some big ass titties.

    Movies?

I watched Namesake last weekend. It starred Kumar from Harold and Kumar fame. I first heard about it on the preview for Once and then a friend recommended it. I really enjoyed it.
  23. I'm still laughing at BradM's "hair don'ts"! Pot, meet Kettle.
  24. Nice job! I am completely useless when it comes to home renovations so I am in awe of your talent! Good luck with the sale.
