  1. point taken - I didn't look at the calendar, I just tried to remember Jan 1st past and all the ones I could remember involved headaches, twitching, driving, or all 3.
  2. who the hell wants to party on the 1st?
  3. one last one before I wrap up this lunch break... Phish: selling sndbrd copies of upcomng shows... http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/125600/ Imagine eh?
  4. ....and I think my earliest memory was meeting MarCo and Giggles in the bathroom at New Deal in Kitchener...at the Lyric maybe? weird...when the hell was that?
  5. hehehe yes good point - congrats on 10 years! Blane: I remember back when I had an editing suite, ripping some phish VHS tapes and encoding them, burning to CD and mailing them back to you - in exchange for some St. Jovite bagels that you mailed to me in a box!
  6. Wow...time flies eh? I think in 2000 I had a homemade microphone made of pine and aluminum that I was dragging to Jomomma shows at Times Square in Kitchener to record to minidisc... The bar NW posted about was either the Circus Room - that was the first time I ever really talked to the Nero boys...or the only other bar close to my house(where I did see/record Jomomma once and Rheos once) was Club Abstract - much bigger and weirder...but my place was just past where Mrs. Robinsons had been in the Kit/Wtloo no-mans land... My house was on Wilhelm(SCREEEEEAM) St. And back then it was very much a 'THAT PLACE' type of place!! hehehe Anyways, After the Circus Room/Abstract gig they needed a place to stay, muttered shit about a hotel and I told them to stay at my place - even though the bus broke down, Lady Luck was present as there was a diesel mechanic right around the corner from my place! To clarify tho - it was Bouche who burst in asking who Asparagus was - he had come down to visit Mark T. for the first time...for my non-skank roommates this was far enough out of the ordinary that they still bring it up! At the time I was working from home doing audio work for cartoon pilots(sigh...miss that) - Stapes and Jay did some hilarious voices for the pilot of 'Peep and the big wide world' while Shane blazed and Dave practiced...I'm pretty sure they stayed for a few or 4 days even until the bus was fixed!! The first time I met the Nero boys was doing sound at Mr. Tonin's first Jambands.ca fest at the Lancaster - 2001? I think I had seen them at Frontier town before that(ScottieKing and I were just talking about this...) I think I met the bulk of the Ottawa folks at the next Frontier Town....I just waltzed into the middle of their camp, set my tent up in a corner and made myself at home....man, it'll take some thinking to remember who all was there!
  7. gold - good speeds too - I grabbed all the picks and most of '77 last night!
  8. Nice! I love these guys but wait a sec - didn't their drummer just die? I'm sure he was the one that fell down an elevator shaft...total movie death.
  9. oooh i love 'whats the use'....great second set!
  10. yeah Ollie I'm with you on the Changeling - although that maybe where the genre nit-pickers might shuttle it into 'thriller' since no one gets an ice pick in the forehead(like in Joe's Garage....uh...forget it) But that movie scared the bejeeubus outta me in my early teens - when that wheelchair makes it's run after that lady in the burning house...well let's just say I haven't looked at an empty wheelchair the same since. Hmm - yeah the classics that scared me when I was younger(elm st, friday 13th, hellraiser etc) just aren't that scary by the newer standards, and if they were a series tended to get worse as they went along(see Hellraiser 3 and that fuggin thing that shoots CD's...uggh) Amityville Horror and the Omen might still hold their own... Since then - the Ring was shit-yer-pants scary the first time, the Saw series took gore to a new level, 28 days Later and those damn running zombie movies...shit! Oooh I know - Phantasm I and II- loved the Tall Man and those flying spheres.
  11. this thread is playing out like an after party i've been to.
  12. ok yes he's old and gimpy and looks like Lou Reed's ugly mentally challenged brother now..BUT....who the hell is he with in that photo?
  13. yeah it was a great show - incredible video quality...can't say it was heavy on the Terry Gilliam but the video editing and shot direction was great and added to the performance instead of detracting from it...
  14. i'm gonna say it's too long to be a twitter comment... I remember when a seagull shit in my mom's mouth(and hair and down the front of her) at a picnic when I was a kid...the picnic went on...
  15. On a side note - www.theoatmeal.com is a friggin' hilarious site! I send out stuff from there all the time. For the ladies - here's a quiz: How Many Baboons Could You Take In A Fight Armed Only With A Giant Dildo? http://theoatmeal.com/quiz/baboon_dildo And this is my all-time favourite: How to Ride A Pony.... http://theoatmeal.com/comics/pony Peruse away! it's a great time waster.
  16. Powers of deduction really - yours is way smaller(christ how many times do I have to see that...) and that pesky lawsuit keeps you from photographing your male friends anymore...figured you had to keep it in the family...
  17. yeah that's what I thought too - why would Booche take a picture of his brother's boner? so awkward...
  18. Cool! Two faves together... http://music-mix.ew.com/2010/07/26/arcade-fire-gilliam/
  19. Oh yeah, and great pics Phishtaper! Surprised I didn't run into you but I must've been 10 feet to your right during a lot of Los Lobos...
  20. I know they played West LA Fadeaway, Not Fade Away, Bertha and encored with Cinammon Girl....didn't recognize a lot of their own stuff but it was all great! Zeus was killer, lotsa great bands in the tents this year - Flash Lightnin' kicked ass and saved me from Sarah Harmer, Holy F*** laid down a great set... Shad wasn't big enough for the mainstage, Calexico owned it Friday night... On a side note, Son of a Hurricane gets the award for 'ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME' by slamming the tent with a RATM Bombtrack teaser...leading into Pantera (What) !!!! holy crap.
