AdamH
Guigsy - I love you. Keep fighting for what you believe in and always walk towards the light. After a 24 hour think while I'd love to see the black sheep happen I'd rather see a packed house. And I wasn't aware that the bands chipped in on the nero/freeker thing. It's the best space I know of in the Ottawa area though so it's hard to completely write it off.Maverick's and Babylon will do but they fall pretty much dead last if your criterion is "find a room with a good feel to it". How important that is though is negligible.Kingston was a bit of a joke as far as turnout (maybe 20 or 30 tops), but for those of us that went? Out-ta-sight! Del
I can't wait to hear about the 2-night run at Pepper Jack's!! Yay! That would be amazing...
dave-O
I heard rumours of a Saint John, Fredericton, Halifax run earlier in the week... but we've been hearing rumours of an East coast run for ages. Anything you'd like to share Shane?
bouche
if Ottawa is the only show, I'm sure there will be a pilgrimage here.
rubberdinghy
Watch out for Ottawa weeknights....some of us drink WAY to much weaksauce (stole that from Del) to go on a Wednesday night...The slip may be a different story though.
bouche
what about that place where The Music Never Stopped and Caution Jam have been playing at?Isn't it called Tucsons? What's that like?

bradm
Tucson's Roadhouse is at 2440 Bank (Bank & Hunt Club) and (from what I've heard) is more of a big roadhouse/restaurant than a music club. (I don't recall either TMNS or CJ playing there, but it's a place The Crowd has played a bunch of times.)As to other venues for The Slip, how about Irene's? The Carleton Tavern?Aloha,Brad
AD
Irene's would be sweet. 2 blocks from my house, yee-haw!ad

I wish I could take credit for "weaksauce", but I stole that from Freeker, who I believe took it from PT...
AdamH
Irene's is a great bar but I think it's too small, and although the sound in the room is good the sightlines aren't.Zaphod's is sounding like a good option, although the weekend curfew does suck I'm guessing this will be a weekday show anyway. In Zaphod's favour: Bar staff, sound, sightlines, downtown location, lots of toilets.
AD
Note that the curfew is all week, not just weekends.I still vote for Zaphods. Or anywhereAD
Hux
Irene's likely doesn't have a good enough PA for the Slip. Babylon, Maverick's, or Rainbow - well equipped.
Freak By Night
My 2 cents:A show like this has got to be at Babylon, Mavericks, or Barrymore's. Does Mavericks have their leaky ceiling fixed yet?Zaphods would be no good - not a jamband-friendly venue. Tuscons is too far away. The Bayou? too small.Don't even get me started about The Rainbow. AD
Zaphods would be no good - not a jamband-friendly venue. Let's make it one!! I think the Slip sound more 'indie' than 'jamband' anyways. AD
bouche
As to other venues for The Slip, how about Irene's? bouche
Bourbon Street MUSIC HALL!That's the name of it!if anyone says "too far"...watch out cause I stick ya. There is no Too far with the Slip coming anywhere NEAR Ottawa.
AD
Babylon would be mighty fine. I haven't been there in ages. They should play on the raised up seating part then so people outside of the front row can actually see anything.AD
rubberdinghy
Bourbon St. has got to be in one of the hardest to get to places in town...unless you take the bus of course.
bradm
Even then, it's tough to get to, as you have to rely on a local bus to get to it, and by the time the show's over, the local buses have stopped running, which requires a long hike to, say, Baseline.Aloha,Brad
dave-O
What's with all the Rainbow hate? I understand the Zaphod complaints (great venue IMO, but I hated playing there) but I don't see any problems with The Rainbow since they've broken their militant blues-only booking. Not the greatest club, but good for this size crowd.
bouche
oh man... HARD TO GET TO? It's the Slip in Ottawa!Take a goddamn Cab! How hard is that? If the place is good, they should play there.Would anyone rather hike it to Montreal or some other city?
Hux
I too like the Rainbow, nice high stage - perfect for a nice high audience. And it's right in the market so you might even have some walk-up due to the music streaming into the streets.
Jakis
I agree with Bouche, take a cab to baseline if you have to. I live close to it so its better for me. I usually am stuck downtown and have to take a cab back or a bus to baseline then a 30 minute walk to my house.cheers,Jake
AdamH
What Hux said - and I'm sure the bourbon is a nice venue but its distance is prohibitive. This show should be kept downtown, or Wakefield! (This thread's gone two pages and still no decisive answer)
