Hey Strangers!

Here's the deets from the Pot Professor himself:

Marijuana Freedom Festival : Friday 13 October 2006

Part 1: 3 - 6 p.m. : Reefer Madness in Canada

Part 2: 8 p.m. - 1 a.m. : Marijuana Victory Party

On the occasion of his 51st birthday, Professor Doug Hutchinson requests

the pleasure of your company in celebrating a Marijuana Freedom Festival.

For press accounts of Doug's new freedoms, google for [doug hutchinson marijuana].

The time has now come for other Canadians to begin to enjoy these same freedoms.

Part 1, *Reefer Madness in Canada* is a free screening of "Escape to

Canada", a National Film Board documentary on the social freedoms

enjoyed in Canada in the summer of 2003, especially legal same-sex

marriage and legalized marijuana. This outstanding film, directed by

Albert Nerenberg and released earlier in 2006, constitutes an argument

for marijuana liberation, an argument which Professor Hutchinson will

develop in comments in and around the screening. This will be the

first public presentation of a constitutional argument being developed

by Professor Hutchinson, the conclusion of which is that our

discredited marijuana prohibition is now in a state of sham validity,

of no legal force or effect. Location is the downtown U of T of campus, in

the Auditorium of the Medical Sciences Building, on King's College Circle.

Part 2, *Marijuana Victory Party* is a party on the edge of the U of T

campus, in the Comfort Zone below the Waverley Hotel, at the corner of

College and Spadina.

Caution Jam, one of Toronto's finest live traditional rock-n-roll

bands, has been engaged for this special occasion. Visit their web

site at http://www.geocities.com/cautionjam/Web1.html

As well as live and recorded music, there will be political and other

speeches, and introductions of special guests, and other events, and

there will be staffed information tables about medical marijuana, and

about the madness of the current marijuana prohibition.

This is an all-ages family-friendly event. Doors open 8 p.m. Cover

charge $5 for individuals and $10 for families, whether 'traditionally

defined' or not; gay and lesbian couples and other non-traditional

families are very welcome.

Those who cannot afford the cover charge should write to Professor

Hutchinson at thepotheadprofessor@gmail.com, to request a free spot on

the guest list.

Our charity for the evening will be the Canadian AIDS Society, which

has been doing outstanding work in medicinal marijuana. Suggested

donation is one bill of folding Canadian money: $5, $10, $20, etc.

Those who know Professor Hutchinson and would like to bring a birthday

present should remember his oft-repeated slogan: "it's only a material

object." An appropriate non-material gift would be a copy of a song

or poem that you particularly treasure.

For those who come to the Marijuana Victory Party there will be a

Guest Book; and those who are unable to attend in person should

feel free to send a greeting to Professor Hutchinson at

thepotheadprofessor@gmail.com.

Please support this event by forwarding this message onwards to others

who should know about it. Prof. Hutchinson would especially like this

invitation to reach University of Toronto students and faculty and

staff members, as well as former students of his, supporters, friends,

helpers in the medical marijuana movement, and, more widely still,

those kind Canadians who are compassionate and tolerant.

Please forward the above invitation and this request without change.

Ok, 2 questions: since I understand the comfort Zone has long had its liqour licence revoked, IS THERE GOING TO BE ANY BOOZE SERVED? (or is that a redundant question that I just answered myself...?)

And: does the Comfort Zone still REEK like the barf Zone? ---cause man, thats place smelled like puke for years....fuckin sick.

Hmmmm... maybe I'm wrong or maybe the show got cancelled. It was my understanding that this would be the annual 'Jerry' show(s) at Rancho. Would the date be right for that?

I'll probably talk to Mark today and I'll ask him. Sorry for any confusion.

That should have been last weekend. I'm thinking you got your Jerry show at Healy or maybe this is round 2 of Jerry night...goes to show you don't ever know.

Anyone know what the lineup for tonite is?? I really should call Les before I go in tonite Kimmer. I have a feeling my name is MUD with him.
