Hal Johnson
I don't blame hime for staying and for not wanting to turn his life upside down. How hard is it to rent a hotel room for a month and a half?
AD
"This is a tough day for the Toronto Maple Leafs," says Bob McKenzie in the biggest understatement since I said, "turning down the lead role in Back To The Future could be a bad decision for Ralph Macchio," back in 1985. guigsy
im blown away that mats is getting shit on for wanting to stick with his team. his principles are bang on, and that doesnt count for anything?call me old school, but thats a big ball of bullshit.kirby puckett is rolling in his grave. Hal Johnson
But if he cares about this team so much, why not do what would help them even just a little. As it stands today they're royally fucked for the next few years. He stays, great, we miss the playoffs some more, then he retires a hero AND were stuck with a gloomy future. At least if he fucked off for a bit there might be some type of light at the end of the tunnel. The whole situation is fucked - its hard to be against Mats here - he is a stand-up dude and a great hockey player. He cant be blamed completely for this at all and part of me is totally with him on this. But the other part of me - the logical, rational side is saying "dont be such a pissy pants Mats - there's always next year to miss the playoffs with these guys!" Hal Johnson
Its like the movie Alive. Can you imagine if the two guys didnt set off to find help? Guy 1: "sorry guys - I aint fuckin leaving, no way uh-uh. Were dying on this mountain as a team!"Guy 2: "But your our only hope for survival! We WILL surely die if you stay! if you leave, you can always come back and be with us in much better circumstances. So go Mats - now's your chance to be a real hero! Dont think were gonna love you more cuz you want to be with us while we eat the asses of our fallen comrades. We are relying on you to stop the carnage! guigsy
[color:purple]well, when you put it that way....the fuckery the leafs are experiencing right now was not caused by mats sundin, and it shouldnt fall on his shoulders to fix it. a sundin trade isnt going to magically solve all of the organizations problems, regardless of how much you've romanticized what sundin can bring. Hal Johnson
But its a good anaolgy, aint it? Your right, but Im sticking to my guns - Mats can help a little and hes chosen not to. Him staying here does nothing for this team.

ULTIMATE WARRIOR
Hahaha. Your funny Davey-Boy! I just drove past the ACC, and I don't believe what I saw. There is actually a small gathering of people out side the ACC with posters asking for Sundin to lift his NTC!! The idiots!! And I can't believe what I'm hearing on sports radio either. How stupid are the people here in Toronto???
guigsy
haha, ya, it wasnt bad. im just a big fan of players sticking with their teams through thick and thin, and i dont think its up to the player to build the team.mats shouldnt be blamed for the collective failure of the suits. Kanada Kev
Are you serious?! That's absolutely ridiculous. What a bunch of 'tards. They should be campaigning to get the other mucks to lift their NTCs (McBagopucks, Kubina, Tucker).

Jaimoe
These are probably the same idiots that go and watch Max Domi Atom MTHL hockey games... and for some reason, young Max gets on the highlights from time to time on City news. ULTIMATE WARRIOR
Shit. I just heard on the radio some bar that was doing a promotion where you get a free pitcher and wings if you hand in your Sundin jersey! THAT'S FUCKING RIDICULOUS!!! The city has completely turned against him!!!
Booche
We did, however, enjoy the responses to our suggestion last week that if Sundin doesn't waive his no-trade clause to facilitate a move to a contender, Leafs interim general manager Cliff Fletcher should strip Sundin of his captaincy and make it clear the veteran forward won't be re-signed this summer. That's blooming awful.
