The one in the Star is soo tabloid. This guy would have something negative to say no matter what the Leafs did. He is this way when he is on the call-in shows on the FAN590 too. There are some fantastic comments posted at the end of his Op Ed piece that are worth a read.

Did he really have to type "Finger (Who)?" FIVE times in that short article? Quality journalism Cox. Way to go.

The Leafs are NOT trying to build a contender for the Cup next season. They are rebuilding and getting rid of shit. What would Cox have said if they somehow had landed Hossa and paid him $9million a season? He'd be bitching and whining that they should have gone after the more affordable UFA market during a rebuilding phase.

How many people are hired per game to keep track of Ice-time, i wonder?

Do you need one guy for each player on both teams? They get into the games for free? Just sit there with a stopwatch and a stenopad? What if you have take a leak?

Steno-waterbottle.

They should make a movie about ice-time trackers and baseball scorekeepers. The climax of the film can be that little slot of time where the two seasons collide and our hero is forced to make a decision that will change his life FOREVER. I see John and Joan Cusack playing the main characters, caught in a forbidden love affair with one-another, romeo and juliet style.(John is a scorekeeper afterall and Jaon is a tracker)

But when Danny Devito gets in the mix, hilarity ensues.

No surprise here, but news nonetheless:

Leafs lock up Stajan

Centre signs two-year deal with Toronto

July 07, 2008

Kevin McGran

Sports Reporter

The Maple Leafs have signed centre Matt Stajan to a two-year, $3.5 million contract.

Stajan, 24, was a restricted free agent. He was one of three Leafs to play in all 82 regular season games this past season. He scored a career-high 16 goals and added 17 assists, to go along with 47 penalty minutes in 2007-08.

Over the past three seasons, he has led the Leafs in games played with 244, including 176 in a row.

In 314 career games with the Maple Leafs, he has 56 goals and 71 assists.

Stajan was Toronto's second choice, 57th overall in the 2002 Entry Draft.
