zero
That is awesome M. Ward and Tony Scherr. Tony really gets around (Rick Moranis, Chris and Kate, Bill Frisell, on and on...). I'm really surprised more people around here don't listen to M. Ward around here. The guy is fabulous from the Transgressions of Vincent up to Post War. Ms.Huxtable
I wish this was coming out before Christmas. Maybe Heady Mama would have gotten an actual surprise! But alas, surprises are not part of this Christmas.
Booche
What a coincedence. 30 minutes ago, DaveO sent me the following"Side note – great new album, that I think you’d enjoy? M Ward – Post War. He’s in the Bright Eyes, Jim James, Jason Molina circle of friends."
dave-O
I'd guess Post War is going to make a lot of critics' year end lists.
zero
M. Ward was playing some dates with Jennie Watson and Jim James solo lately. The guys a monster. Like Iron and Wine without being so lullabye or something.

DevO
I'm a big fan of Transgressions of Vincent and the one before it. I haven't heard Post War yet. (didn't know about it actually) He is indeed amazing; still pretty lullabye esque though! I know theres much more to his story.. What other band was he in or involved with? A duet with Norah Jones could be pretty nice.

hamilton
I wonder if Kevin Breit's on it. I get the sense they don't work together any more. From www.bluenote.com :On January 30, 2007, Norah Jones will release her third and most personal statement to-date. With Not Too Late, Norah's songwriting takes center stage, allowing for a much more complete picture of Norah herself, her personality, her humor, her mind. Many of the musicians on Not Too Late will be familiar to Norah's fans, including guitarists Jesse Harris, Adam Levy, Robbie McIntosh, and Kevin Breit, drummer Andy Borger, and singer Daru Oda, with many special guests lending their talents as well, from M. Ward to jazz organist Larry Goldings to Kronos Quartet cellist Jeff Ziegler. Not Too Late further establishes Norah Jones as a timeless artist with a distinctive sound, loyal and expanding fanbase, and a level of artistry that will continue to grow and delight listeners for years to come. hamilton
So.... now the album's out, but for some reason no one is talking about it!I picked it up today, and after one listen I have to say that it's pretty damn good. She has managed to sound different from her second album, which was in turn different from the first one. This one sounds a little more folky and more stripped-down than the others. I read in an interview that she was thinking of Tom Waits when doing some of this material, and it shows (not in the singing, of course!).Anyway, my initial reaction is quite positive.(P.S. - for you Kevin Breit fans, he is only listed as playing mandolin on one track.) Blane
I'd buy a ticket if M.Ward is still opening, but there's no clear info on that. THeatre st. denis, pretty cool. Only space for about 750 or so I think. This will probably sell out quick.Edit; It appears they have 2 theatres there, and one holds about 2000. I guess that would be the one.
