Beck is touring in support of his new album, the critically acclaimed Modern Guilt. The album contains 10 new songs, and with the exception of last year’s Grammy-nominated, digital-only single “Timebombâ€, Modern Guilt is the first new material Beck has written since the prolific stretch that produced 2005’s platinum Guero and 2006’s universally acclaimed The Information.Modern Guilt is a tightly assembled group of songs that range in lyrical tone from introspection and social commentary to off the cuff wordplay and lighthearted humour. Musically, the album’s tracks vacillate between economy and experimentation, hybrid and pop classicism, while consistently manifesting Beck and producer Danger Mouse’s shared interest in psych-rock, folk, electronic minimalism and orchestration. phishtaper
MGMT are pretty awesome ...I love MGMT. Oracular Spectacular has been getting regular rotation in our house. Unfortunately, having this show at this venue will be awful. Unlike the casual - and comfortably undersold - Widespread Panic show a few weeks ago, this show will be as sardine-crowded as the Ween disaster from last fall. SmoothedShredder
He barley filled the stands at the Ricoh Coliseum last time he was in town. A little annoying considering he was touring with the best stage show at the time. Table percussion AND puppets. Such a great artist... I can't wait until people come and start ripping up his scientology background... or is that too 2006?!
Basher
JBT and G. Love was the packed crappiness that Ween was. That venue still sucks when they open up the back bar area.

AD
excellent beck acoustic set here i'm not a big beck fan, but i really like sea change and this set is great
YearsAlongTheSea
The show was awesome. He really dug up songs from all over his discography and delivered them with a soulful, rough around the edges twist. There was a really cool medley where it looked like everyone on stage was rocking a turntable, battling while beck sang. There was also a nice acoustic segment with two songs off sea change. All over the place in true Beck style. He played some tunes off Modern Guilt but the variety really did it for me.I really dug the opener. Very cool sound and really tight live act. They definitely spent some time exploring some interesting musical terrain. It sounded kind of like what disco would sound like today, infused with a hefty kick of rock and roll. I dug the sound academy. The crowd was a little lame; too school for school... or dancing. But the view of the skyline was stellar and even though it was packed there were pockets of space to boogie down in. Anyways, I didn't get back up North until after three and pulling a ten hour day on 3 hours of sleep hasn't help my cold at all. But, it was all worth it... NewRider
Fuck! I wish I had went! I didn't care for Modern Guilt that much so I didn't buy a ticket.
YearsAlongTheSea
Yeah, not to rub it in, but he didn't even touch Modern Guilt until about halfway through his set and only played three tunes off it. He opened with 'Loser.' All over the place I tell ya...
DevO
Sounds good! Did he play anything off 'One Foot In The Grave' or 'Stereopathetic Soulmanure'?
