snarfmaster C
just thought I'd share. They are keeping me alive, and have been for the past 2 weeks or so. beyond that, they've actually got me happy and smiling, despite my fucking situation. can't beat that, really. I think I love them more and more every day. I'd love to share specific songs and jams with you, but the gems I've streamed through have been lost in a mountain of work and distractions... but boy oh boy are there ever gems love love love love

killatokes
i too love the Grateful Dead! and in the spirit of the season i'd like to share a recent find on the archive. it's for the GD completist in all of us. a rehearsal tape from Mickey Harts barn on 71-08-21. reviews from the achive: Reviewer: dwlewis273 - - March 25, 2006Subject: Just AMAZING!!This is a real treat!! And at the very seccond one begins to feel it's just a loose / sloppy "jam"...some superior bits of tight musicianship come out...instantly reminding us that these guys were worthy of all the praise and acclaim given to them... There's great tallent through-out!!..(even in the "noodles")AND it's LOTS of FUN as well...would love to have actually been there! Dont pass this one by!!and:Reviewer: phleshy - - April 20, 2005Subject: Interesting!A fascinating artifact, this AUD recording was recorded with Mickey, Phil, Jerry, Bob, David Crosby and John Cippolina. Read the text file for more info. These jams are quite melodic and exploratory, especially on the half-hour Wall Song. Unfortunately, the taper often stopped and started the recording between songs which is sorta annoying as there is an almost total lack of chatter that might have been interesting. That said, the quality of the AUD is very decent. I'm just glad someone captured this at all. BTW, the name of the final Tuning jam is the old J.P. Sousa march Stars & Stripes Forever.http://www.archive.org/details/gd71-08-21.hartjam.aud.17179.sbeok.shnfnot sure if anyone else has heard this or not but it's very nice... just thought i'd share a new find (for me). boiler
For a long time I was a classic rock sorta guy, Stones, Zeppelin, Floyd, The Band etc., but the not the Dead. Now, is a different story, I listen to them every day. If I get 5 songs into the ipod shuffle without a Dead song, I start hitting skip until they come up. edger
Many of my most valued relationships with so many different people were catalyzed or inspired by the Grateful Dead...pretty crazy actually. The band has provided a soundtrack for so many life events...It's amazing to now get the opportunity to observe the calming effects their music brings to my son. bONES
I LOVE The Grateful Dead, but I love snarfmaster c even more The Dead brings people together. Just this week, I was playing some live Grateful Dead in the welding shop at school and one of my students asked me if he could dump a bunch of my Dead tunes onto his mp3 player! I love The Grateful Dead he said, and well....we haven't shut up about them since. I took him in the Hamilton shows on cd yesterday as he was there but has never heard the recording since. He was stoked to say the least. time for my Saturday morning Grateful Dead wake n' bake
