AD
Lo How a Rose E're BloomingFeist, Sufjan Stevens, and many others have covered this. You can download Feist's excellent version here The song is from German origin, its original title being "Est ist en Ros entsprungen." No one knows who the original author of the lyrics was, but German composer Michael Praetorius is responsible for the tune as we know it today. It's incredibly beautiful. This is along the lines of the the type of Christmas songs I like best- the classy, traditional ones... those associated with Christmas rather than penned for the occasion.
