TheGoodRev
Google maps tells me this place isn't downtown. Has anybody ever heard of it? Is it way too off the beaten path for you to get there to see a show?(bus strike notwithstanding)'Preciate yr input!
Gateaux
It's in the heart of Hintonburg on Wellington. Good little spot to get drunk. I'm sure Gentlemonkey will chime in!! It's 5-6 blocks from Parkdale.

ollie
Haven't been myself but the venue has gone under a bit of a renaissance over the past year. Sounds like they get a good local crowd.I've also heard you can bring your own food since they don't serve much of anything themselves.

Northern Wish
Good room, bad sound equipment. I don't think I have ever seen anyone play in there and it sounded even half good- I seem to end up there once a week or so. That being said they seem to be ramping it up a bit, Luther Wright and the Wrongs play there on the 31st of January.

gentlemonkey
The Elmdale rules!! I agree NW- the sound needs work. I have seen the Woodrunners sound good there, but often its pretty boomy- I've also never watched from the front.

TheGoodRev
Bummer about the sound, that's a pet peeve of mine. I wonder if I can request that they hire a local tech of my choice for the night? Can anybody recommend somebody who's good?Hey Northern Wish, do you know anything about PA's? Can you tell me if it's just a vocal PA, or does everything run through? Is there actually a front of house booth and a guy who mixes, or are we talking about a powered mixer side-stage?
Northern Wish
Powered mixer on stage, usually a member of the band is doing it themselves. Never seen another board in that place, or anyone running the rig for the performers. And I do believe its a vocal PA with all of the instruments running through their own amps. But I am not a pro so I could very likely be wrong.Don't know any sound techs, sorry.
snarfmaster C
I know it used to be a BYOSoundguy situation, but I was there before the holidays and Mike Ktenas (the bass player who hosts the blues jam at Irene's) was working the sound, and said he was their main man. It was sounding pretty good too. Ya! Come to Ottawa! and bring the Midnight Shift
