Jaimoe
Gordie Johnson is great. I love his minimalist approach.
Palms
The new bass player was really good. He fit really well with Matt Abts, although he occasionally needed head nods to know when to change timbre. At least it's not like Phil Lesh and Friends where PL's yelling out chord changes to the band mid-jam! AD
Fairly lucky to have gordie in town for that gig since he moved to Texas a few years ago. Grady is touring Canada right now - Ottawa Friday night at mavericks. For those who like bleeding from the ears.

jayr
Damn, looks like it would have been fun. Honestly I dropped all attempts to go when I saw a picture of the venue with it's Theatre seating. I'm really not a Theatre show kinda guy especially for a band like Mule. Still kinda bummed I missed it.

CyberHippie
I can't believe I didn't notice this show. Fail...Although it sounds like it was a little more formulaic than old school mule/sugar shows. Still I bet it was a great show.

Jaimoe
Sure the Queen Elizabeth has theatre seating, but it's an excellent venue for concerts. The acoustics are perfect and their isn't a bad seat in the house, if you choose to sit of not.
Kanada Kev
would MUCH rather be there than at the Opera House, the Phoenix or the Danforth Music Hall (although i haven't been in there since the reno) any day!
deranger
I thought the show was a let down. I couldn't sense an ounce of chemistry between the new bassist Jorgson whatever and the rest of the band. I miss Andy Hess in mule big time. The new guy isn't much of a replacement and Andy was an awesome replacement for Allen Woody who I miss more every mule show I see. The energy was lacking generally throughout the night and those I spoke to who were at the Michigan show 2 nights previous said it was a much better show than Toronto. Not that jorgson isn't an amazing bassist, but they need someone with more than great skill to fill those shoes. they need someone of the caliber of Hess or Woody. Jaimoe
would MUCH rather be there than at the Opera House, the Phoenix or the Danforth Music Hall (although i haven't been in there since the reno) any day! They did a fine job with the reno of the Danforth, not including the lobby (I love the old refreshments booth). The Danforth acoustics are still a little spotty when you sit up front - Iron and Wine sounded muddy while the Swell Season sounded pretty clear and clean - but the seating and overall look of the venue is very good to excellent. I still prefer the Queen Elizabeth, which resembles a small Sony Centre, but with better acoustics, sightlines and intimacy.
