bouche
I'm just hurt I didn't get a pat on the back for the due diligence on the GE/Comcast deal. In the back of my mind I keep remembering that of their 49% of NBCU, 10% of GE I believe is owned by a private equity firm (I'm presuming people assume GE is completely publicly held). %10 of a %49 nut gives the private equity alot of say particularly if GE is hamstrung by an imbroglio of financial obligations.I think your analytical approach is very sound and worth pursuing. *pat* *pat*

zero
I'm just following the money trail but it is an odd twist that BlackRock is one of the big holders of equity because China really just did get into the private equity world, bought a huge chunk in BlackRock and then it listed on the NSE (as BLK). nibbler
Zero,Good work on following the money.GE is the worlds biggest Nuclear Reactor manufacturer, second biggest builder of war machines. They also operate financial services and health care businesses under the umbrella. A multinational corporation with fingers in every pie.As if they are going to let public opinion get in the way of doing business.
phishtaper
GE is huge and diverse, but isnt Areva the world's largest nuclear power contractor.

SaggyBalls
and Paul Schaffer's really any better?I just like his tone. Neato guitar.don't knock shaffer. He's a great man. How can that be perceived as a personal attack?Eubanks sits leisurely on a chair laughing at Jay with a couple of guitars, some stompboxes, and his amp. Clean and simple.Schaffer stands in a ring of keyboards and electronic equipment.Holy $ix figure rig. While Schaffer punctuates Letterman's one liners and plays up the yes man like no other, I think Eubanks' guitar sounds trump Schaffer's 'do it all' keys any day.Now if only Eubanks were as funny. gentlemonkey
I think Kevin Eubanks is a clear case of face does not match name. I think someone with a name like 'Kevin Eubanks' should look something like this: Its not a side-man name, its a HOST name. That said. I just realized that Ben Mulroney might be this generation's Fergie Oliver. AND with Canadian Idol off the air, perhaps he can finally concentrate on his destiny.. Toronto Blue Jays colour commentary! Or. EVEN MORE EXCITING... JUST LIKE MOM V2.

zero
I just saw John Oliver on Jimmy Fallon talking about doing comedy at Bonarroo and how playing to a crowd of Phisheads that have been in the sun for 3 days isn't the best audience. That there's like a 15 second delay from the joke to the 'oh, I see how that could be funny realization'. He said he should have done his bit left the stage and waited for the lag to pick up. AD
He said he should have done his bit left the stage and waited for the lag to pick up.I saw one of his sets at Bonnaroo and he just wasn't funny. He's good on the daily show where he's 'the brit' and it's scripted but when he was in a totally live setting, his set was pretty sad. He was better than Wyatt Cenac though. And a tree stump is a better comedian than Janeane Garafalo. The funniest comedy act I've ever seen was right before John Oliver actually, and that was Rob Riggle. Unreal how good he is.
