You know what really grinds my gears at Christmas?

Happy holidays? Fuck all that. Its merry christmas and ya'll know it. Don't bend to them people, enough fun has been laid to waste. The world is a dangerous place now. You can't let your kids go trick or treating on their own and they won't be riding their bikes to their friends place if it is more than a couple of blocks away but I'll be damned if those bastards take Christmas from my son too. Its Christmas for Christ's sake! You know, Jesus and that fucking manger and all that shit? I don't take holidays during holiday season because it's Christmas season and I don't holiday shop because I Christmas shop. If you dont like it, dont celebrate nothing and fuck off. The next thing you know, Santa Clause is going to be on whatever diet-du-jour is making the rounds and people will try telling us that Jesus Christ was white. So the next time you say "Merry Xmas" to someone and they respond with "you are supposed to say happy holidays" tell them "fuck those guys!". Maybe it will eventually stick because everything else seems to if you say it enough. And that's what really grinds my gears.

hahaha very well done booche. i don't celebrate xmas but i still don't like how happy holidays has taken over merry xmas. i celebrate channukah and although it's a holiday, we don't get time off work. so would i want people saying happy holidays to me? F no. It's not a happy holiday unless you get to spend it with your family and friends, and I don't mean post-work when you're wiped and the last thing you want to do is put up with a family that's just as tired as you are. put me down for a handful of merry xmases to all of you fine folks. here's to time off for xmas.

I've reverted back to Happy Holidays because I think the whole "screw political correctness: Merry Christmas!" movement has gotten stale and mainstream, like U2 and '72 Dead, "oooh look at me, I'm taking a stand and saying Merry Christmas! look at me! look at me". Fuck you, and Happy Holidays.

What they said :) .

I don't really see the difference anyway between a holy-day and a Christ-mass. They're both a kind of shorthand for something that ends up not getting much attention in the broader picture. As it is, it's hard to get much of a "speak truth to power until they ritually torture and murder you" vibe out of this season. Maybe I need to look harder.
