Hey Tube, if you want good Rod Stewart, he's never better as he was on Jeff Beck's first two albums: Truth and Beck-Ola.

These Jeff Beck Group albums are comparable to Led Zeppelin I & II and are arguably as essential ( particularily the masterpiece Truth - Ron Wood plays bass and Nicky Hopkins is on piano on both albums ).

The Faces were cute for that time period, but the two albums that Rod did with the Jeff Beck Group is exciting and influential rock and roll.

have em both.

well actually, my mom does. she owns the complete rod stewart catalog.

i listen to the jeff beck stuff all the time. Especially with my hard rock, blues loving friends.

I grew up on Rod Stewart. Most of his own songs are great, and his choice of covers, Forever Young and Broken Arrow, are top notch.

Which Beck album had the Jailhouse Rock and Spanish Boots? I used to listen to that one all the time.

You wouldn't believe the shit i used to get growing up, when i would proudly tell people i liked Bowie and Rod Stewart. Especially through the late teens when we were all drinking...Tooly could certainly testify to that.

[big Grin]

Anyways, taking mom to see him in February, again. It'll be the third time. I keep telling her, its just to be a 'nice son'. But I think she's caught on.

[smile]

not to mention every time i've seen him, he's had a top notch, professional band. Classy.

Jailhouse and Spanish Boots are on Beck-Ola, the weaker of the two albums. Weaker, but not by much.

I love Keith Moon on Beck's Bolero and Old Man River from Truth.

By the way, the line-up on the song Beck's Bolero was: Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page on guitar, John Paul Jones on Bass, Nicky Hopkins on piano and Keith Moon on drums and the famous scream. What a fuckin' band!!!

I used to listen to Truth all the time when I was a wee lad of nine and yes Tube, that was probably before you were born. Geez, I am old.

Jeff's new CD's are great, but they aren't for everyone. Very progressive with electonica, but always good songs with killer guitaring.
