  1. Some roads are open and some are closed for winter, yes. If you have a destination in the park that you're planning to go to might be best to call the park and see if you can get there. Pretty sure the road up to Champlain lookout is closed, that would have been a good spot. The top of the Carleton u parking garage is a surprisingly good spot for these kinds of things, on the few occasions I've gone there.
  2. I think it's brutal. the proposal is not of the calibre of a national capital. People should be able to look at the space and recognize Ottawa. Instead they're going to look at it and ask "When did we build a stadium on Merivale Road?" Why do we need a movie theatre and retail stores here? Put it to an international design competition - or finish the one that had already started. Go with it from there. I also don't like how these businessmen get a 30-year free lease on some of the most valuable land in Ottawa. Ottawa's incompetent city council will always find some way to fuck things up, so even if this is approved / denied I'll continue to have no faith in those jokers.
  3. You might not be able to advertise your act if they're playing Bluesfest as well. Something to keep in mind...
  4. I've been trying it out but can't quite see the point yet. Plus it's a huge hog on my system and regularly crashes.
  5. He's a ridiculous guitar player. I saw him at Bonnaroo with Herbie Hancock and it was awesome. Don't care much for his songs, but when he just plays there aren't many better. I'd never go see a bill with just him on it though, the songs are way too cheesy.

  7. AGCO says: Â 7. Under what circumstances is it illegal to transport beverage alcohol? It is illegal to transport beverage alcohol in a motor vehicle, a motorized snow vehicle or a boat unless the beverage alcohol is in a container that is unopened and the seal unbroken, or unless the beverage alcohol is packaged in baggage that is fastened closed or is not otherwise readily available to anyone in the vehicle. In a boat, the beverage alcohol must be stored in a closed compartment.

    NHLPA

This is all over the hockey news lately. I don't understand what is happening, largely because I don't want to read about the inner workings of a union. So, is this NHLPA stuff worth paying attention to? If so, what's going on and what does it all mean? Thanks
  10. There is a lot of information and mis-information floating around 'out there,' and I don't know if your tidbit is true and I don't know if this article quoting the WHO's top flu expert is true, but I am more inclined to believe the flu expert. Just putting it out there. Lots of information to believe. H1N1 vaccine shows no serious side-effects: WHO Here are the first few paragraphs:

Listening to the recording reminded me of something that really didn't sit right at the show. That was the pre-recorded intro to Battery. I think it's one of the greatest hard rock song beginnings and that they only came in after the epicness was disappointing. But the rest of it was wicked.

  18. If you’re tired of Feist simply showing up onstage for the occasional guest appearance these days, you’ll get the chance to see her returning to headlining solo form tonight (November 5) in Toronto. And you’ll get to do that for free. This evening, the beloved Canadian songstress will be playing at Holt Renfrew in Toronto (50 Bloor St. W.), where she will be helping unveil the shop’s new holiday window display. (Yes, it’s already that time of year.) The show kicks off at 6:30 p.m., and like we said, it’s free. Feist is filling in for actress/singer Kristen Chenoweth, who cancelled her appearance earlier this week due to illness. Now, if you’re wondering why Feist might be pairing up with Holt Renfrew, it could have something to do with the store donating a percentage of the evening’s sales to the United Way of Canada. After all, we know how much Feist loves her charity.
  19. I think it's funny that they're using the sound of gunshots to disperse a murder.
