haha. someone needs a few days off. I saw the sculpture on my way home from work. It looked lonely, but it won't be tomorrow!

I missed the fireworks last year. I'd like to see them this year...not so easy to get there from here. Well, it is easy...just gotta get motivated. I hear they will be bigger and better thanks to the Queen's visit.

Yeah, museums are free tomorrow, so that's fun...easy to walk in even if for just 5 minutes. Yep, I'd like to go check out the free jazz fest shows later in the day...will they be serving beer on site tomorrow? I wanna go downtown for sure this year and just do some walking around, but I need easy access to booze. I'd like to see the Queen but she's up early!

I might go to this for the celebrity and weirdness factor: Juliette Lewis -- star of movies including Natural Born Killers, Cape Fear and The Other Sister -- will bring her band to Mavericks on Rideau Street in Ottawa Aug. 12. Lewis, while not making movies, has been making music for six years or more, and has recorded several albums with her bands the Licks and then the New Romantiques. Her latest album is 2009's Terra Incognita. Tickets for the Aug. 12 show, $23.50 advance, are available on ticketweb.ca and at Vertigo Records on Rideau Street.

Yeah, hmmm, I had a feeling the Gabriel show wasn't going to be that great. Ah well. I liked his last tour so much, but am not liking his new album of covers, so didn't wanna see any of that live. You guys gonna check out The Musical Box at Bluesfest though, right?

So I went to bed angry at the Ottawa Senators last night. But woke up to the sweet sound of Ollie telling me that Iron Maiden is confirmed! Yeeha! Can't believe it! Then he tells me about Further...what? Yippee! Then he tells me about the Flaming Lips...hooray! And then Rush... very cool! Steve Hackett...nice!! The Musical Box?!...weird but great! Hold Steady...no way! And so on! I got up 15 minutes earlier than usual. Happy! Love it! Ottawa Senators...whatever. See ya at Maiden losers!

You might wanna check out Tyler Kealey at the Brookstreet Hotel . http://www.tylerkealey.com/ http://www.myspace.com/tylerkealey I used to work with his girlfriend and she told me that tonight, a music publisher from Universal is coming to see Tyler play. Tyler’s playing some of his original stuff from his CD with a trio, from 8pm to 9pm or so (he plays til midnight but the Universal guy will be there at the beginning for sure). The guy will be looking for crowd reactions so Tyler's hoping to get some supportive fans out to be a good audience! The Brookstreet is in Kanata, off March Road.

Well, I didn't get my Maiden tickets for Toronto (no tickets available in the GA pit area and those are the only tickets I wanted). So...Maiden at Bluesfest has to happen now!
